East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The man hardly seemed happy about joining her in the bar and yet, he still hadn't refused her. What a peculiar man he was, Miya not entirely sure what to think about him. Though, he hadn't seemed to forgive her after she rattled off that apology, his response a mere grunt in her general direction. Dipping her head, she attempts to hide that blush that so sears into her cheek as they are pelting across that street and into the bar. The warmth is welcome as she immediately begins to strip out of that oversized coat that so dwarfed her frame. As she turns to hand it back to him, she hesitates momentarily as she watches the man run a hand through his hair as his shirt nearly tears from his body. Now, Miya wasn't the type to ogle at men and yet... she couldn't help but stare at him. Swallowing, her cheeks burn with embarrassment as she quickly looks away. Good lord! What did the man eat to look like that?! As she hands him back the jacket, her eyes snap back to his face as their fingers brush, her brows shooting up in surprise as her lips part slightly in shock.

Turning away from him suddenly, she moves as quickly as she can to the bar, whether it was to get away from him or not she wasn't sure. Setting her messenger bag down, she slides into one of the seats, her body feeling suddenly warm. She's short of fanning herself and is happy she didn't as Malakai slides into the seat right next to her, his massive frame making everything and everyone around him look pathetic. Miya tried to look at everywhere but him, yet, when he suggests to the woman to purchase a drink, she can't help but glance at the rugged man, "Um... I'll take the same thing?" Her voice stutters out with uncertainty showing her clear lack of knowledge of alcohol. The bartender seems to cast an amused look in her direction before moving away only to begin the preparation on those two drinks. Again, hot embarrassment races through her and with an attempt to cover it up, she asks for his name.

Miya blinks in surprise at him as he offers her his first name rather than using his last name. It's difficult for the girl as she sucks in a bottom lip and chews on it in contemplation. He wasn't really her professor... but he was a guest lecturer and she was raised to always show those types of people respect. It takes her a moment, attempting to convince herself that it was, in fact, okay to use his first name. Sighing, she doesn't have a moment to argue with him before he levels a long stare at her, her chocolate eyes rising to meet his gaze, the woman unable to look away. His next set of words has the woman almost flinching in her seat, only to have that delicious pink blush adorning her face, "I wasn't sleeping!" Her voice raises slightly, but loud enough to draw the attention of the few customers in the bar.

Biting her lip, she shakes her head a touch of anger etching into her features, "I was worried my roommate was going to eat me or kill me so I didn't get much sleep last night," she snaps out, only to have her eyes widen in surprise. Slapping a hand over her mouth in shock, she hadn't meant to tell him that, she must've been far more tired than she anticipated. She doesn't get to cover up her words with some terrible lie, or at least, she doesn't have a chance to before the bartender is bringing back those drinks, sliding them in front of the two. Immediately her dainty hands cup the glass, her chocolate eyes turned downward. Truly, she hadn't been frightened of Arlo until last night, the vampire having lost his mind at the woman chasing the panda around the house. How was she supposed to know she was actually one of those shifting animals?! She was far too new at this. A sound of distress escape Miya's lips before she lifts that glass to her lips and takes a sip.

Whatever she was thinking is out the door as she begins to cough and sputter at the drink. God it was awful. Coughing continuously, the bartender quickly retrieves her a water that she guzzles down in great gulps. Chocolate eyes travel back to the man, her nose wrinkled in distaste, "This is disgusting, it tastes like rubbing alcohol," she states before she allows her mind to wander back to that information she provided him. Cringing, she looks away from Malakai only to peer into the drink, her fingers still wrapped around the glass, "Look... just don't tell anyone I told you that," she murmurs under her breath before taking another drink of that wicked alcohol. As much as she despised the drink, she did not waste, and really... alcohol was almost welcome in her miserable state.
