East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm about to make my own way, heaven help me keep my faith

The young witch with lock of dark cocoa hue and icy blue eyes has hardly noticed the clock ticking the day. That day in Oliver Burton's office, Kathryn had decided to accept his offer of an internship with his company on the spot. While, the work has been challenging, busy, almost frustrating at times, Kathryn has not regretted a moment at this internship. She has learned so much and while Mr. Burton was a stern boss, he was a fair one too and Kathryn had never felt as if she had been treated poorly even despite her intern status. Glacier blue eyes finally look up from the blue prints she had been looking over and notice that the clock says it is nearly 7:00. "Oh my gosh," she mumbles to herself in breathy undertones. She certainly didn't expect to be here so late.

The sable haired witch had an odd schedule here at her internship due to having school start once more for the spring semester. While she would come in during the week either in the morning or evenings for a half day, Fridays, Kathryn was free from the binds of class and so she would work in the office all day, sometimes getting out to visit sights with another intern or a supervisor, and even sometimes her work led her to interacting with her bear of a boss. Really, Mr. Burton was a good boss, overly serious? Yes. But cruel and unkind? No. He had high expectations, but it only encouraged the sable haired young woman to continue working hard and striving to improve her skills, which would only help her in the long run.

This particular Friday, Kathryn had awoken bright and early to ensure she made it to the office in time. She had dressed her sable hair in loose curls that hung down her back in shiny loose ringlets. Dressed in grey dress pants, a cream colored silky top, and cream flats, she had reached for her black north face winter coat to ensure that she would be warm enough on her way to her internship. She had left earlier than usual this morning so she was able to grab a coffee from Inner Sanctum, the place that had slowly become her favorite coffee shop to go to.

The sable haired witch had experienced quite the busy morning and early afternoon at her internship, running around at certain points like a chicken with its head cut off. But then, later in the afternoon, she was given some blueprints and some building plans to become familiar with and finally, Kathryn was afforded a minute to sit down. So, she fixed herself another cup of coffee (frankly the sable haired girl could not even remember how many cups she had throughout the day) and she sat down. Quietly, she tucked herself away into the office that the interns shared and found a moment of silence and stillness despite all the other college students and occasionally an older intern were stirring about, performing their respective duties. Slowly, one, by one, they began to dwindle, a few had evening classes they had to get, and a few many more saw the clock struck upon the hour in which their shift ended and not even a force of God could keep them at the office a second longer. They trickled out until only a girl with hair of dark sable remained.

After her coffee was long gone, her hand just occasionally playing the cup, running her fingers along the edge, that is when those glacial blues finally look up from the papers to an entirely empty room. How was she the only one here? Quietly, she stands up, stretching her body out, before gently rolling up her work and putting it away in her desk for Monday. Kathryn grabs her coat from behind her chair and slides both her arms through the sleeves before ensuring the lights were turned off and heading out into the hall.

That is when, she noticed, the hallway is not dark as it should be during closing. Those sky blue eyes simply stare for a moment at the light that is on in the room down the hallâ€"Mr. Burton's office. She is walking down the hallway before she even realizes it. It would seem Kathryn's curious nature has not escaped her even into her young adult years. The blue eyed witch then suddenly appears before his door, giving a knock to make him aware of her presence, eyes that are bright and glacial, yet deep like the at the same time peer out at him form underneath dark lashes. "Working late?" She asks. "I think you probably deserve a break," she says looking at the no doubt large pile of work the man has. "I was going to get some pizza and you are coming with me," she says with a daring grin on her sun kissed face. Bold of Kathryn perhaps, but she knows better than to form such an invitation as a question, because question are only begging for the answer of no when it came to Mr. Burton. She tilts her head slightly, a silent motion to encourage him to come with her. "Come on, I know a great place."
