East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

And other poison devils

Little angel go away, come again some other day.
The devil has my ear today.

Long, boring meetings were the reason for the creation of naps. Have a meeting? Better to lean back in your chair and shut your eyes when no one is looking. Nap time was important in many other ways, too. It helped rejuvenate a lack of desire to work. Fancy that. Davante hadn't planned on having a large amount of enthusiasm for this job, but the desire even so was decreasing by the second. The client speaking towards their employers had a haughty attitude and a careless look in his eyes. If the African man had wanted to choose this firm based on their list of subcontracting translators, why would he feel condesencion towards the translators themselves, especially when one happened to be African too? Davante found the notion frustrating, but with silence he turned back to the notes he was preparing. Beside him, Serika looked as if she was sizing him up rather than focusing on her work. It had occurred to Davante that she was a little young for the job, but maybe the firm didn't have as many resources to expend to hire a seasoned professional. Their revenue was truly increasing at an impressive rate due to their wide variety of translators, but this? Fighting the temptation to attempt to understand as much French as the woman beside him could, Davante momentarily ignored her note to focus on his task.

When he was entirely caught up with the foreign part of the conversation, the warlock cast his companion a side-long glace. The signs of youth were all over her face, causing him to soften, if only for a moment. Had she even finished her degree, yet? What was it that made it possible for her to be hired in a top tier firm that had an excruciatingly high-profile clientele? Perhaps there was something on her resume that had intrigued the employers besides the feminine physique. Besides her apparently ability to be present in such a meeting, Davante wasn't sure what else she could offer. Of course, it was evident that she too was a Witch because of the slightly silver glimmer of her veins. There were little to no indications otherwise, but it reminded Davante that he at least owed her some kind of solidarity.

"While it isn't your first playdate, it's more of a rodeo. Stay on your horse and you'll be fine," He murmured, his eyes never leaving her note so that she would understand he was intending to speak with her. There was no reason to reply to her note because it was a lull in the translation, and in the conversation around them. When the men called for an "intermission", Davante turned his chair to study the woman.

"How did you get a job like this?" He inquired, his head tilted curiously to the side. "You're young, inexperienced... "

Blunt? But what do you expect.
