East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The wolf seems unsure of how to react to my act of submission, instead choosing to ignore it on behalf of her curiosity to know more about me through scent. This is something I'm used to so I stand still while she inspects me, sure that she'll find flaws just as many of my pack mates did. When she reaches my side, she almost looks sad, a whimper escaping her lips. My ears flicker in uncertainty, unsure at first why she's making that sound when she suddenly reaches out to burrow her nose in my fur. I stiffen instantly under the sudden touch, not used to such. Of course I don't want to anger her so I don't move away no matter how my body recoils. My eyes widen, waiting for her to take a bite out of me or something but instead I only feel waves of empathy rolling off of her body.

So she's been abused too. I guess she doesn't just have visible scars. At another point, the wolf curls her lips back and I flinch automatically, sure this time that she's going to attack. Finally she shakes her head as if trying to rid herself of a particular odor and moves around to stand in front of me. I wonder if she smelled my father on me. Anyone who smells him would instantly know of his bitterness and anger. He always seems to carry it around with him in his cologne.

In answer to my question as I inspect her, she tells me that she was tricked once and that males are bad. My fur bristles at the thought but I nod my head in agreement. I can see that she's not going to tell me anymore but that's alright. I've never been one to pry. Of course I've never really had someone that I could ask questions to so this in itself is a new delight. I've never had this much freedom with another Were, let alone a much bigger Were that could eat me if she wanted to. She keeps one ear on me at all times but lies stock still for me to inspect. When I ask about the other scents, she answers, calling each by name. Of course I've never heard of any of them so I tilt my head and look at her in awe and puzzlement.

"Maybe some day....you can...explain them...to me?"

I wonder out loud, even as I duck my head some, afraid that she'll get angry for me asking. I watch with interest as the wolf finally sits up and curls her tail much as I did, displeasure shown on her features when I ask about her house. I wonder at first if she didn't like my question but then she explains that she doesn't like her house. I nod, looking down as I think about how lonely my first night here will probably be. I was used to hearing the sounds of my pack until late into the night. There was always someone up making noise, whether it be sounds of fighting couples or lusty mates. Even children playing out at night while their parents scolded them and sent them to bed. Anything was better than nothing.

"That is...understandable."

As the wolf turns from me, I frown, wondering if this is the end of our encounter. Suddenly I hear the obvious popping of bones rearranging as she shifts back and suddenly there's the curly haired woman standing before me once more. She is already in clothes, something that is strange to me. How did she do that? When she turns back to me, my ears flicker uncertainly, listening as she tells me that I can come. My eyes widen in surprise. She's inviting me to come along with her? Decing to be on even terms with her, I shift back to a naked girl crouched on the sidewalk. Straightening up slowly so as not to make her uncomfortable, I push some strands of hair behind my ear and nod.

"If you're sure...I would like that."

I offer a shy smile.
