East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

turn my world upside down

Looking at the way her whole body seemed to relax and slouch over as if on the verge of sleeping, I could understand the feeling entirely. I had spent most nights drowning myself in alcohol after all. It was the only way I could find to at least temporarily numb the pain. When the girl slapped some money down on the bar, I shook my head and pushed the money back toward her. "Your money's no good here. I've got a running tab with the bartender." I said with a slight smirk. He was proud to hold my black card most nights when I came in here to drink. The woman was so morose and quiet, not at all like most of the women who sat beside me in this bar. They were chatty Cathy's, all about talking and the questioning and the blabbing. Annoying, really. It was actually refreshing that she didn't talk so much.

When I mentioned death, she asked if I deserved it. "Yes." I said without missing a beat as I tipped back another glass. There was no doubt in my mind that I deserved it. I deserved it ten times over for what I'd done. Not letting the vampire go that the coven was going to sacrifice for their ritual, no. That's what they were punishing me for, but that's not what I was taking it for. She said that she wasn't used to guys being hunted hanging out at the bar and I couldn't help but chuckle and shake my head. "They would find me no matter where I went. Might as well be comfortable while I'm waiting."
