East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Her eyes never stay in one spot too long. She seems to like watching the other patrons of the cafe as they walk past. I can almost see the judgement in her eyes. She must have an opinion about everything. There's nothing wrong with that. At least she knows what she wants in life. When she speaks to me, I tilt my head, leaning back in my seat as I put my elbows on the table and search her expression before answering.

"I don't have a good reason to. why get attached when everyone dies while you remain?"

A question as old as time. I've lived over one thousand years. Any attachments I made are long gone and I could not curse someone with this existance unless they want it and no one has shown that kind of interest. It's a rough life, being immortal, even with all the perks. She smiles as I shake her hand, though I can tell the instant her body stiffens in response to my challenging words. She is quite protective over Maria. I like that quality. It means she cares about someone other than herself. Finally she relaxes and smiles, speaking her mind as I knew she would.

"Am I getting under your skin, Serika?"

I raise a brow. She's back to being friendly but I was never concerned about it. I won't harm or flirt with her friend. In fact, if she makes an advance on me, I plan on telling her I'm not interested. It might break her fragile human heart but at least Serika will be placated that I won't go back on my words. At her question, I contemplate for a minute.

"New scenery. Plus I'm looking for someone."

It won't hurt to tell her an honest reason. She might even have a lead on the hunter I'm looking for.
