East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It's easy to tell she must come this way a lot. She seems to have the path to this storage unit memorized. I can tell just from the emotions crossing her transparent features just how much she has lost and this gift only reminds me of that. She talks of her brother like a hero, like a best friend. They must have been close and now he's gone. I bet they made a lot of memories with this car. Maybe he had it fixed up once or maybe it was always a dream of potential, something for them to plan together. And now she gifts it to me. It's special to her, that much is obvious so I can't rightly express just how much it mean that she would trust me of all people to take on the task.

And I have no future plans beyond making their dreams come true. I plan on putting all the money I can into making this car all the hype she wanted it to be at one time. Her face falls a little when she reads my expression though and I falter, wondering what I did or said wrong. Are the memories of her brother bringing about this or is it something else? She moves toward me then and I hold my ground, blue gray gaze searching her face for clues to anything I can do to bring the smile back to those full cherry lips. She moves her hand, folding it upon my own to put the keys in my palm and close them in it. I look down, following her gesture before my eyes slowly move back up to her own. My lips twitch, offering her a gentle smile when she tells me that I should reap the rewards. I nod.

"I bet we would have gotten along just fine. I never said I wouldn't get to drive it. I think there are future road trips in our future."

I smirk a little, eyes twinkling with good intentions, hoping it will lift her mood to know that she can still see so much of the world, and from the seat of the car her brother owned. She moves then to turn back to the car and I turn my head, watching her as she looks over the car, practically caressing it with her gaze. My smirk twitches, brows furrowing some as I watch her look down to the bracelet I gave her, playing with it as she practically whispers her well wishes. I smile, moving my hand to entwine my fingers with hers and offer a gentle squeeze.

"Merry Christmas, Isolt."
