East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My Own Form Of CHAOS

I have seen another side of Azraela nd I know he has a weakness in the dark haired witch Serafina. I'm sure he's not happy that I witnessed the look between them that day in front of the Witchery. I can use it on him any time I want and no hunter likes their weakness on display, especially not for a vampire. I know how much this place means to Isolt because I know it means a lot to me too. I'm not about to let hunters take it over but I know you've got to play the game of politics to stay above water. Everyone knows what happened at the Witchery, how the hunters got in and trashed the place and took out one or two witches in the fray. No one wants that to happen here. I won't LET it happen here. I'm sure he has misled quite a few supernatural owners by asking for a tour and then using it to his advantage later for attacks on the place but we are anything but gullible here and we are nothing if not prepared.

I would never underestimate Isolt. She's very clever and I know she's always got tricks up her sleeves. She's silent as I talk to him but I know she's listening very carefully. I do have a way of hating hunters on sight but that's only because so many have failed to give me the right to prove my worth in the past. I've been hunted ever since the night I grew fangs for the first time and I learned quick to bite first and ask questions later. Over time as my hunger grew easier to control, I learned how to use my words instead to get a peaceful response or at least to outthink my opponents. Sometimes a few sharp words is enough to put a hunter in their place and make them see that going after me won't win them anything but a long agonizing death. I turn my gaze to Isolt, ever curious of her thoughts on any matter having to do with the pub. She seems to be looking intently at his drink glass and I raise a brow, wondering what that's about.

She says fine but I know she's not happy about it. She moves away only to return with a plate of apple pie. I can smell the fresh crust from here and even though I would never touch it with a fork, it still smells good. She sets it down softer than I expected and even gives him utensils. That was nice of her. I grin. She tells him to eat up and I lean against the wall, crossing my arms and making myself at home as I incline my head a little to watch and see what happens. I glance at Isolt, my expression softening. I really do wish I could see behind those sparkling blue eyes sometimes. I'm sure Azrael would hate for anyone to know how he feels about Serafina but it would do me no good to go around blabbing it so instead I hold it in my mind as a chess piece, just waiting for the right time to be played. He knows that I have the power to absorb energy. He saw it when the lamp came at me and Bethel. I doubt it would stop him from trying to kill me but at least he'll know that I'm not that easy to kill.

He snorts at the answer I give him about threatening the people who work for me. My smirk only grows. "As unholy as I am, I at least do know my way around your council, probably better than you do. I know most of them by name and they know of me....through one avenue or another. How would the council feel about knowing the whole town turned on your kind and forced you out of Sacrosanct? You think I can't make them do it? I would have every man, woman, and child going after hunters like another Salem. Do you think your council would overlook that many human casualties?" My eyes narrow in clear warning not to push his luck. The council may believe him over me but they still exist for the sake of saving human lives. Wiping out a few human workers, maybe they would overlook, but having to defend yourself against a whole city of humans? I don't think they could overlook that so lightly.

Apparently hunters haven't caught on yet that not all vampires have to kill to feed. Many have taken up human lovers to keep their appetites sated and others have powers like mine where I can walk up to a complete stranger, feed from them, and then tell them to forget what just happened and walk away. Easy as that. I usually only take lives now when someone pisses me off. Isolt does seem to hold onto he humanity something fierce but I just blame it on how fresh she still is to the immortal world. Over time, she may lose that part of herself but I don't think I want her to. I think that may be why I feel so strongly towards her. At his comment about the pie, I shake my finger at him. "Tsk, tsk, now where are your manners? When a woman offers you her best pie, you eat the pie. It's rude to decline. I insist." I weave some of my own powers into the words, pushing to persuade him to eat the pie. He reaches for his drink again and then finally reaches to take a bite of the pie.

I look around the pub as if bored while he eats the last of the pie and drinks the last of his drink, not wanting to stare him down like a predator watching his future meal. As he sets down his untensils, I look up, raising a brow when he asks to get it over with but he hesitates. Humor seeps into my gaze as I straighten up from the wall. He looks very much like he's drunk suddenly. I glance over at Isolt, smirking knowingly as I raise a brow. Smart girl. I look back at him when he speaks and I move toward him to gently pat his back. "You're so right. You're hilarious when you try. Ready when you are." I turn to Isolt. "Beauty before age." I hold out my hand, signaling her to lead the way as I offer a smile.
