East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

With Each Step I Take...

I really didn't have much to go on about the life as a Dark Hunter, almost anyone who knew about them could tell it. Though last night was really the only time I had paid for my inexperience, before that I avoided anyone who gave any supernatural vibe. To honest I do have a feeling of accomplishment, almost two years and only one dangerous situation caused by the supernatural population. The only incident outside what has been caused by supernatural world was the one that had put me in the hospital where that doctor had found me. sleeping in an alley probably isn't the most reckless thing I've done since I've changed, no that might have been running away only to get into a car crash in order to avoid hitting a deer. Still I found myself slightly at the nudge at the bottom of my foot; it really isn't every day that someone wakes you up on the streets. As my eyes opened they caught him in the act taking step back, more a sign of caution than aggression, and then travel up until they meet his strong gaze.

He answered my words with a soft snort and gave me the definition of a doubtful look if I had ever seen one; yet I couldn't help but smirk at his words. "I wouldn't underestimate me, I may not be in the best of shape but I still have some fire left; more than enough to defend, if I deem it necessary." Still the way he talked it sounded as if he was no novice at combat himself; and in my condition my words held true I was far from just rolling over and dying, but the most I would be able to do is defend. My question obviously had surprised him, in one regard or another, not that he hid it really; then again both shock and surprise were probably the emotions I was most used to seeing, other than disapproval. His questions I saw no reason to refuse to answer, other than telling how inexperienced and clueless at this I was, they held no real importance. I sharpened my hearing slightly, for being in a city and carelessly enhancing your ears would only serve to give a headache and overstimulate me, but I heard the foreign word that left him as his gaze drifted from me a bit. "In October, it'll be two years. And my maker? Heh, he threw me into this ocean that is the real world and didn't even stick around to see if I sunk or swam, only leaving a vague note explaining the little things in his wake. Why I still carry that note in my backpack, I have no idea." I grumbled the last part, diverting my eyes. I didn't need to see his face to try and figure out his thoughts, and just the thought of that note infuriated me.

The man sighed running his hand through this hair before answering her question. 'A Dark Hunter? I always figured there were more, but had yet to run into any others, or at least any that I knew of. And the blasted doctor never mentioned anything beforehand or in his letter about identifying others.' I thought, letting out a sigh of my own; whether it was relieved or tired, I didn't know. I almost just sat there and stared dumbstruck, as the man in front of me gestured to the building behind him, and continued speaking. "Oh yes, wouldn't want whatever reputation you surely so worked hard to gain to be blemished, now would we?" I only allowed a slight tone of sarcasm to enter my voice. None the less, got up, swinging my pack over one shoulder. I released a yawn while stretching that I had been holding in to avoid lowering my guard; figuring that if he was going to attack me, he would have done it already. Then I quickly followed his lead, I may be stubborn and a little more that fiery, but I was far from senseless; at this moment she was in no position to turn down help, still trust isn't a word I would use just yet still being painfully aware exactly where her knives were hidden.
