East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The stars in their orbits

and the stars in their orbits shone pale through the lightof the brighter, colder moon

Was Samantha trying to kill her? It was so close to the surface, Nadya's very bones cracked, her hand visibly jerking at the sensation. She clenched her hand into a tight fit and shoved her hand into her lap beneath the table and out of view. It didn't matter that it was far too late now, Sam's injury from the vampires done and over with, the fury at her having been harmed in the first place. "You shouldn't have gone off at night like that. You can't do that anymore." Her voice was very tight, a very thing control and tightening of the jaw. If she was going to be a part of Aiden's life then she couldn't make reckless moves like go walking around at night through the woods. "You're not a Were and you don't have any offensive abilities. Just...don't go walking about like that again." Hmm...Nadya would probably enter the subject of Aiden getting Samantha a car next time she saw him. That was the only way to ensure her safely traveling through town.

Thankfully she was able to refocus on the original task at hand with Sam's admission that she would do the job, that she would have done the job with less. That in itself was a large relief that she wouldn't have to deal with the shifting issue on top of handling the burlesque. It wouldn't do well for her to shift around the customers and harm them. Though she wasn't like Raven with the feral nature, she was still at least mildly dangerous in her dazed state from the forced shift. "Thank you." Nadya shifted to lean back in the chair while she clutched her hand that was still sore from the cracking in her lap and watched Sam glance over the notes. She was sure that she hadn't missed anything that the girl would need in order to pick up where Nadya had left off.

"Do something?" It seemed a rather odd and sudden request that caused Nadya to blink back at the blonde. The suggestion of clearing her head was a logical one though one that Nadya doubted she could do. She found dancing to be calming, letting the rhythm take over her body and drown out the thoughts in her head and moved with fluidity across the stage. That, however, wasn't an option at this moment seeing as the burlesque was currently in full swing. Fighting past the doubts was hard but Nadya finally did come up with something that was a tried and true form of therapy for her. "I know what." She didn't elaborate just what she had thought of but did leave the chair in order to slip behind the folding dressing screen in the corner of the office. Nadya slipped off her purple corset top dress, hanging it in the standalone wardrobe with her other outfits before pulling a new set of clothes from one of the side shelves.

Dressed finally in faded jeans, purple long-sleeved top with a thin grey cashmere slip over it she stepped back out into view. Nadya stood on first one foot then the other as she slipped on purple high heeled pump boots. It was perhaps the most under dressed Sam had ever seen her, they were always working after all and Nadya had always had her work outfits on even if it was just a dress like she had on and not one of her stage outfits. "Let's go." She snatched up her purse, glancing over to Sam only briefly to see if she would follow before leaving the office. There wasn't really any room in her mind to stop and explain, simply do, for if she stopped she was afraid the thoughts of fear for losing control would return.

Nadya led the way down the stairs and into the backstage area where Lyrica was overseeing preparing the girls for their next set. She paused only momentarily to speak to Lyrica, "We're leaving for the night. Make sure the girls are ready for the new routine tomorrow before leaving and remember to lock up." And that was that. Nadya was on the move once again leaving Lyrica to nod in stunned silence watching the boss lead away Samantha. Nadya pushed open the back door and the brisk night air was a welcome rush into her lungs. She was silent as she walked across the small back parking lot, her heels the only sound she made clicking against the asphalt until she reached her matte black sleek car. "Get in." The car beeped once indicating unlocked before Nadya slipped in.

She already had the car humming with life before Sam could even open the door and get in, waiting only for the car door to close before the car pulled out of the spot and out onto the street. It was a Saturday night so many shops were still open at this time of night, taking advantage of the weekend hours for more customers. Nadya's gaze remained on the road, one hand clutching the steering wheel and the other on the gear shift, maneuvering seamlessly between gears as the car glided through the thin traffic to the other side of the downtown market. It didn't take long before Nadya slowed to a stop, parking in front of a clothes store that looked like it belonged more on the cover of a Beverly Hills magazine. "Before Aiden had the Ark, he lived in a club..." She began to explain, turning off the car but remaining in the car as she glanced from Sam to the shop. "Tobi and I did a little break and enter into that store there. We took some outfits since neither of us had even a dollar to our name. Afterwards, to keep close to Aiden and Tobi since they were both trapped in there, I worked here. Of course they didn't know I had been a part of their previous break in...but clothes, shopping, had been a way for me to deal with my separation from Aiden. I had just found him, he was just right there...but I couldn't be his family when he was in there." The trip down memory lane, remembering those moments, caused Nadya's hurt to flare and her insides to twist in that pre-shift way. Nadya shook her head to clear it away before looking back at Sam. "You need some new clothes if you're going to be representing the burlesque now."
