North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

The flirtatious teasing was something new to the young woman, Miya hardly realizing someone would actually want to flirt with her. She was practically married to her work and the dating business... well, she was hardly familiar with it. The doctor more likely to insult someone accidentally then she would be to flirt with them. It was a tedious balance, one she simply stated away from. How very awkward she was when she wasn't within the confines of the hospital! Though she desperately tried to look at Dareios as a patient, to help ease the blush from her cheeks, it was all but impossible. The man was clearly good at this whole flirting thing and Miya simply didn't know how to respond to it. What was worse, he seemed to be enjoying himself as he playfully teases her. Not that she was upset, she just didn't know how to navigate such a thing.

So, as he taunts her with the business card, her cheeks flame brightly as she sputters over her words. The man laughing lightly at her reaction, "Well, yes - yes I was, for your information Mr. Mayor," she sticks her tongue out at him, a very childish thing to do but she couldn't help it. Even with her reddened cheeks, she can't help but drum up a smile. She isn't prepared for the way Dareios reaches across the table, his cool hand covering hers, her chocolate eyes widening as she looks at his pale hand. Her lips part slightly, as if she were about to ask a question but she can't quite come up with anything. Not that she minded his hand being there, she rather liked it... but it was so new to her.

She doesn't move, though she doesn't push his hand away either. She's saved from having to speak as Dareios makes a comment, her eyes darting up to him, distracted momentarily by his deep baritones and the use of her formal title. She grins briefly before the weight of his words set in. He'd really do that for her? Allow her to ask all those personal questions? Her gaze widens in brief surprise and she's quite ready to launch into a tirade of questions before the whistle of the kettle has he jumping from the stool in shock. Offering an apologetic smile in her direction, after bumping his legs, she rushes away and grasps the handle, only for the hiss to escape her lips.

The faucet is turned on quickly, her hand shoved beneath it as the cool water helps the burning sensation die down. She doesn't realize Dareios is behind her until he speaks, her heart jolting in her chest as she's startles. She gasps in surprise, taking a step backwards into Dareios, her back colliding with his hard chest. "You surprised me!" She exclaims as she clasps a hand over her chest, "You almost gave me a heart attack!" She states, a breathy laugh escaping her, though the burning sensation returns before she steps forward and puts her hand back beneath the stream. When she calms the thundering in her chest, she glances back at Dareios, his words sinking in finally. Brows arched at him in confusion, "Of course I trust you, I wouldn't have let you carry me running at break neck speed through the city if I didn't," she laughs lightly. "It's just a burn, there's some cream in my bag over there," she points out at the discarded messenger bag on the couch, "Unless you are going to magically heal it," she jokes, hardly realizing that Dareios, in fact, could heal such wounds and yet, Miya was completely oblivious to this.
