Even as the door closed behind us, I turned my gaze to Audette, both of us knowing it was only a matter of time before the vampire on the other side found us. If only there was some way to mask our scent... Of course, that was before I made out the dark stain on Audette's knee. My own nose wrinkled as I glared at the offending limb. Blood. Of course, she was bleeding. That was sure to pull half the vampires in Sacrosanct out of hiding. Sighing, I ran a hand through my hair before urging the girl down the alley way and further from the door. The more distance we could put between ourselves and the vampire, the better. It was only then that she decided to ask about the baby furniture I was looking at. Of course, she noticed. Looking sheepish, I pointed out that I was going to be a father. I don't know why I felt embarrassed. Really, I was over the moon about it. I couldn't wait to be a dad.
Audette was quick to show her own glee at the announcement before saying congratulations were in order. I chuckled before nodding and waving my hand once more before moving closer. "Do you need help?" I offered to held her down the alley if it hurt to walk on her wounded leg. "Sounds like you need to stop running into trouble." I couldn't help but mumble teasingly even as we moved down the alley.
