kissing death and loosing my breath
If there was anything that Serafina could accurately say that she had in common with the man standing before her, it was that brief period of having absolutely nothing. Serafina had been born on the streets of Sacrosanct, having been taken in by a homeless woman who'd found her discarded. During her youth, the young girl had ran with other children she'd found, keeping to the dark alley ways and seeking refuge under bridges and overpasses. She adapted, as well as any child could. She could easily become that child that reminded you of your granddaughter, the sweet girl you wish you had just as easily as she could be protective and vicious over the food she'd found for the day. That is - before her mentor whisked her away to become a prisoner in the life he made for her.

Her whole world had consisted entirely of this single city and Serafina had intimately come to know all aspects of it. Her head shook ever so slightly as she listened to Davante's words, her voice soft as she spoke. "No, I've never left the city before....legally I don't exist upon paper." Her namesake was hardly even her own, one that had been given to her at a young age. She rarely chose to spoke about where she'd come from, this single sentence the only exception and yet Serafina chose not to expand upon her lyrics, instead turning her attention back to the fantastical world that surrounded her. She could hear Davante's inquiry, soft and gentle upon his lip and with her eyes sparkling the young woman turned towards him, a smile sweet upon her lips. "I love it, Davante, thank you." Her words were but a soft whisper as her slate tinge gaze met his bright crystalline eyes. Slowly the girl leaned upwards, her lips dancing with a featherlight touch across his cheek in a small display of affection.

Serafina let him steer her to the table, her gaze still drifting to her surroundings with a continue sense of awe. She knew all too well that this was merely an illusion, that it was his magic influencing what she saw. She hardly minded though, willing enough to let herself fall sway to his affinity for once. She watched the attendees jump to life as she settled in her chair, bringing plates to their small table and filling the glass before her. The female's gaze shifted from across the table and the food in front of her, her stormy gaze falling upon the envelop settled in front of her with her name printed upon it. Her lips pressed together, her eyebrows furrowing ever so slightly as she reached forward to pluck the envelope from the table. Serafina glanced up at the sound of his voice, a smile tracing her features in a direct reaction to the one he wore upon his lips. The girl shrugged ever so slightly, this being another area she often chose not to speak of, "It was the only thing my mentor found I could do - so he made sure to teach me everything he could. Every book he could find, every obscure scroll he got his hands on, he gave to me." Serafina purposefully left out all the numerous attempts of magic she had failed at on the way to find her affinity with potions. She had been rather useless for the majority of her life and such was not something she was willing to speak of so opening.

Never the less, the girl let her attention drift, carefully navigating the conversation between them. "Can I open this?" She inquired her head shifting ever so slightly to the side, sending her ebony locks swaying as she held up the envelope. Serafina was inquisitive as to what was inside. After all he had already given her a dinner unlike any she had ever been to. What more could there possibly be?
