North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

all this devotion was rushing over me, and the crashes are heaven, for a sinner like me, but the arms of the ocean deliver me.

There was nothing like the bakery that had offered me a job while I was completing my degree at the university near my home in Georgia. After a local bake sale, they convinced me that my name should be Betty Crocker instead of Elenore Dorian, and with a compliment like that who could refuse their job offer? I was happy to take on the tasks they suggested. Some of the suggestions were sheer, pure fun for me; who got paid to redecorate?! The bakery became like a second home where I could work on my designs when it was quiet and customer-free, and when it was busy I could bake until my heart was content. It always smelled like heaven there, filled with the aromas of pie, cookies, cakes... Whatever you could imagine devouring, it was there lining the shelves of the glass display cases. When I had told the owners I was leaving, it was painstakingly difficult because they had looked at me with such love and tenderness, both hugging me tightly in my last moments as their employee. The bakery would always be home with open doors and a welcoming assurance that I would always be greeted like family. But family had waited me elsewhere, and it was time to open a new book so to speak. With no school left to complete and no job yet, my time was incidentally in an extreme abundance. There were no real entry level jobs to my field, so it was only a viable option to take whatever ideas that Davante had thrown my way. He had offered me a job with him, tucked away in a hole-in-the-wall shop in a part of town that he assured me he would be my security escort, but what kind of job was that? I wanted freedom, not my guardian angel sitting pretty on my shoulder to make sure that my life went according to plan. His plan.

The Witchery was an appealing name, one I had smiled over while looking at potential job listings. How could it not be with a name like that? It was sure to attract a wide variety of clientele, the suites filling up with all kinds of supernatural creatures I had yet to meet. Given to possibilities, it was hard to convince me that there was a better job idea in the city, for now. Davante had let me in on the knowledge that the owner was a witch, though he used different adjectives to describe the manicured woman I was intending on meeting. He'd looked vaguely amused in his description of his ordeal that landed him in the establishment, reminiscing that he "may or may not" have suggested that the owner supervise his cleanliness. I, on the other hand, truly wanted a reputation to be built on something other than my relation to Davante Dorian. While I loved my brother, brothers... I was a separate entity and I felt sure that I could prove it by finding a job that didn't involve the utilization of my connection to a man who ran a shop and had ties in many businesses.

I had dressed appropriately for the occasion in a well made burgundy fluted skirt, and an off white blouse that was made of a material that hung itself over all the right places. My makeup had been minimal, emphasizing the exotic angles of my face with my hair curled but pulled gently off my face with a small clip at the nape of my neck. From Davante's description, I assumed the woman had an eye for details and good taste; here is to hoping that she would appreciate I had the same. With a soft, pleasant smile I offered the receptionist a quick hello, before thoughtfully looking around to take in the foyer of the building.

"I'm looking for Rowena Metcalf â€" I was hoping you are hiring..."
