North
long live the pioneers
rebels and mutineers

Gradually the days were getting longer as spring slowly crept back into the city, but whatever warmth spring was going to bring hadn't arrived as of yet especially not this late in the evening. Casually she strolled down the quiet streets nestled in the higher class part of town, eyeing the neatly trimmed hedges and white picket fences with a mixture of intrigue and disdain. It was a life she had once, privileged and never wanting for anything, but few realizes that brick houses were seldom more than cages that looked appealing only from the outside in. The life she had chosen was a harder one, her apartment no bigger than a closet might be in some of these places, and yet she though it worth so much more answering to no one. It's not like she could go back anyway, she thought scoffing quietly to herself, not such a perfect princess now was she?

Her heels made sharp noises as she walked on the stone pathways, moving from the residential distract into the downtown where the warm glow of shop lights lit those walking by. She shivered slightly and pulled her leather jacket closer as the wind swept down the street. Warm blooded as she is dark skinny jeans and the tank top beneath her jacket did little to fend off the cold, but what her clothes lacked in warmth they would more than make up for it in other ways soon.

She had made a proverbial deal with the devil for services yet to be rendered, a deal she still had to make good on but a feat that required no little amount of planning she had discovered. Tomorrow she would be going into the Ark for the first time to scout the area and see what, exactly, she would be up against. Frost had provided her plans and maps of the Ark, described what went on there, and yet she was still more nervous going into this than she was when she was going in blind somewhere. She wasn't sure what the importance of this amulet was, but he wanted it badly enough to pay a fine price and so she could only guess at it's worth.

The money he had paid her upfront was still stashed in her apartment, unwilling to spend it until she had completed the job. She didn't like to think what Frost might do if she took his money without delivering and then was unable to pay back his deposit. He didn't strike her as the understanding type. That's why she set out to work tonight, an odd job to pay rent and buy a food for the week. She had long ago surrendered herself to what she must do to survive on her own, driven on by the primal instinct of the leopard as well, and she was not ashamed of it.

Finally she paused outside of an eclectic bar, leaning against the cool brick while her bright, hazel eyes scanned the interior. Above a sign hailed it as the VooDoo room, the interior dressed to match the title and a smirk pulled at the corners of her pink, glossed lips. She hadn't hit this part of town before and so was sure she wouldn't be recognized while she worked. With eyes which were almost hungry she scanned the crowd, picking through the ones that were dressed up merely to give the impression of wealth versus those who actually possessed it. Idly she played with a strand of her long, blonde hair as the wind tousled it gently, humming to herself as she prepared to enter the establishment and start her shift.
