Edie found that falling into step beside the man beside her was oddly easy. She didn't hesitate as he chose to lead her down the street, her gaze drifting over the shop windows as they did so. It was a quiet, natural sort of thing, despite that they'd only met an hour ago. That only contentment seeming when he inquired about how she'd ended up in Sacrosanct. She'd answered him cautiously. After all, she hardly wanted to give up more information than necessary to the near stranger that stood beside her. If there was anything she'd learned over the years, it was that you could never be too careful in who you trust. Perhaps she'd grow to completely trust Frost, but they certainly weren't there yet. Still, she was surprised when he answered her with a reference to the place she was from. While she'd never been to the village that he mentioned, the reference of home couldn't help but cause a smile to appear on her features. She'd deny it if asked, but a tiny bit of her missed home so much that it was an ache. It wasn't enough to send her packing home to England â€" after all, she had no money for a plane ticket even if she did want to go back. But it was enough to make her think fondly of her family pack. There had been bits that weren't so bad there, though Edie was positive she would have never truly been happy there. It was the small chuckle that left his lips that jerked her back to the present, and the wistful smile she'd had on her lips momentarily was instantly replaced by a defiant smirk.

"I'm too smart to merely be a pack member. My parents may have been content with that, but I wasn't." She paused for a moment, turning the full extent of her gaze up on the man beside her. "I want power. And the only way to do that was to marry up. And I refuse to rely on a man as the source of my power."

It was perhaps the most honest thing she'd said to him thus far. Her parents had suggested marrying her to the Beta of the pack, though he was far too old for her and had no interest in her other than her ability. It was a useful one, she'd admit that, but it was hardly one she wanted used as a tool against her.

"I knew you were an Alpha," Edie said confidently, a chuckle escaping her own throat. "No Beta, then. We may just have to change that, won't we?"

Edie's brow furrowed as he continued to talk, suggesting that the only thing she'd done so far that was useful was her acting in the store. Although she was very tempted to point out that her escapades had been very profitable for him, she merely shook her head, giving him a small chuckle.

"I'm glad you finally seem convinced at my evident brilliance and my beauty," was all she got out before he moved swiftly. She caught her name on his lips and her gaze looked up as he stepped in front of her. Edie's mouth parted ever so slightly to ask what he was doing as he grabbed at her shirt, tugging her in. There was the feeling of warmth that spread over her â€" a clear indication of what he could do. Perhaps against her better judgment, she let herself be pulled in. She didn't flinch as his fingers tipped her gaze upwards. She couldn't help but be taken in by the brilliant violet of his eyes. They were lovely, and so well hidden under that mane of snowy white hair. She was fully prepared to let him kiss her. What had she just thought about being weary of him? It seemed so silly now...

And then just as quickly as he'd grabbed her, he'd released her. The warm feeling released from her, seeming to wake up her mind as quickly as the presence of it had slowed it down. A flash of anger spread across her. Both at herself for allowing herself to fall into a trapped moment at his hands, and at Frost for being able to do make her question her better judgment.

"Clever," Edie said after a moment when she'd finally gathered her thoughts. It was clear from the way he eyed her that this was a challenge. Another chance to prove that she could be useful. She stepped forward, easily closing the distance between them. She had to be fast about this. She had no doubt that he could â€" and would â€" hurt her if he perceived her as a threat, and that was hardly something she wanted to deal with today.

Edie reached out, grabbing his arm quickly. Lifting her gaze to his, she didn't hesitate as she drug her nails roughly down his skin, leaving five identical bloody scratches down the pale skin. Her gaze never faltered, her confidence never waning. After all, he'd asked her to convince him. This was the best way to do it. She gave it a moment for what she'd done to sink in before she let her power take hold. Within seconds, the wounds closed themselves and left nothing behind but a small bit of blood that stained his skin.

Satisfied, the young girl stepped back, this time crossing her arms over her own chest. She stared at him, seemingly unbothered by their moment of close contact that had broken her concentration only moments before. She flashed him a small smirk, waving her hand towards his arm.

"You'd never be hurt in a battle again," She said simply, giving him a nonchalant shrug as though the prospect mattered very little to her. "I offer you that, and my brilliant wit and beauty, of course. All you need in return is to make me your Beta. I will settle for nothing less." Her smirk grew as she watched him. "Or, the Nightshade pack, was it? I'm sure that adding a third wouldn't be so terrible for their Alpha, considering what I can do. The ability to not be hurt. Could certainly put a pack in a very advantageous position indeed."
