The evening had come much like it did every evening and Amelia had decided that she was finally brave enough to venture out on her own. Ever since she had nearly been killed by Hunters, Amelia had been cautious about where she found herself. She stayed away from the vampire bars, choosing not to spend much time with her own species. The risk was too great. Even the memory of that night made the scar on her calf burn. Luckily a fae and a witch had saved her life...but it didn't take away the pain she sometimes felt.

Amelia wore a slim-fitting pair of high-end jeans with stiletto heals and a beautiful green top that brought out the color in her one green eye. By the time to made it to the local bar, the hour was getting late. Shit. She had wanted to beat the drunk crowd, but from the looks of it they were all still happily drinking. She had wanted to avoid confrontation.

She stepped inside, spoke to the bartended and ordered a glass of his best white wine. She was always a classy girl, never one to be too surprising. Looking down, she realized her makeup had smudged just a little bit where she had tried to cover up her numeric tattoo from her years in the German concentration camps. She pulled her sleeve down her arm and took her wine from the bartender.

The room felt like it was closing in. She found it hard to breathe like someone was sitting on her chest. Anxiety was overtaking her. She had to get out of this place...but she wanted to finish her drink. Amelia practically rushed out the door to the outdoor area of the bar. She slid into a seat just near a woman with her cigarette. She sighed as she practically inhaled her wine. Perhaps it was too soon for her to be out in public. The memories of that night were just too much. All the fallen vampires was too much for her to bear. Her heart hurt. She had been unable to help save the lives of her own species. She was trying to make a difference...what good it was doing for her.
