Born in Africa, Kato lived in a very small herd of other Were rhinos in which they often traveled alongside the wild elephant herds. It could be said that his upbringing was relatively unconventional but he loved it growing up; the connection to the land and animals that their gypsy lifestyle allowed. Though as with any grown male there was pressure to find his own way in the world so shortly after his 21st birthday Kato became a wanderer.
