East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I wander the streets of Sacrosant, looking for something to do, someone to bite on. My first night had some adventure in it so why not add more? I still don't know enough about the city. I stopped by City Hall earlier this evening, right after the sun went down. They didn't seem pleased to have someone stop by so late in the evening when they're closing up but after some "persuasion," they let me in without much trouble. I managed to talk the housing commisioner into letting me buy a nice place on the north side so at least I've got a safe place to bunk down during the day in. It's nice to live for years. I've accrued quite a small fortune in that lifetime, plus my family was never part of the low class even when I was still breathing.

Now that that's settled, I'm roaming the streets. Anacosta Heights is good for privacy, but I'm not so bad that I stay tucked away all the time. I made sure my new living quarters had a nice quiet place for sleeping out of direct sunlight then headed out into the streets. I find myself wandering onto the east side, following the distinct sounds of some kind of gathering. The streets are overwhelmed on this part of the city. There must be a festival or something going on. There's booths set up with games and food and some smaller rides that are portable and easy to move. I guess I picked a good time to be out and about in the city.

People wander by with cotton candy and hotdogs, oblivious to the dangers they're right in the middle of. I'm sure I'm not the only supernatural out on a night like this. Even from here, I can smell the silver in the air from witches wandering around. I even catch the gaze of a dark hunter watching me from across the street. He's trying to be nonchalant but I see the malice in his eyes from here. He can sense me just like I can sense him. I give him a smirk and a wave before I disappear behind a hotdog stand. Let him chew on that while I get lost in the crowd.

There's a band playing on stage near the end of the street so I make my way over, easily shouldering through the crowd. The band's not A-list but they're not half bad either. I stop about midway, not wanting to be up front but not wanting to be in the back either. From here, I can see everywhere around me. I can also find a good neck to feed on while everyone else is more worried about mosh pits and crowd surfers. I venture up behind a red head, the scent of her perfume drawing my focus. It seems so familiar. Maybe a distant memory of someone I used to know? That leaves a lot of open area.

Movement in the corner of my eye catches my attention and I turn my head. A young kid is wandering through the crowd, looking lost while his hands stay in motion, returning to his little handbag time and again. An eyebrow hitches up with interest. A pickpocket? He moves fluidly between the red head and I, doing some smooth moves from her purse to his handbag but he doesn't quite make it back into the bag with her wallet. Instead his wrist is clutched tightly in my hand as I gaze down at him. He looks up at me, the indignation fading to something more distant as he stares into my intense gaze.

"Why don't you hurry off with what you've got? You don't need more trouble than its worth."

I whisper silkily. His eyes still distant, he nods solumnly and releases the wallet before hurrying off through the crowd. The wallet hits the ground with a soft thud and I reach down to grab it, holding it out to the side of the red head.

"I think this dropped out of your purse."

I'm not looking for good deeds to perform or anything but I dislike having anyone preyed on besides the ones I'm preying on. If you ask me, that's just unbalanced.
