East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The night was calling. Marjorie was hungry, and the city pulsating with magics that reached out into the suburbs where her most recent home was being finished. The rooms had been sunproofed, at least those that would be used most during the day. The staff was slowly being acquired and she had every intention of eventually finding friends or perhaps calling her progeny into city limits until she established herself again. She was a lady, and thus she did not rush into anything. Even the man that she fed on was left alive, with the puncture marks healed with a bit of her own blood rubbed into it. She did not often kill completely these days, as murders always seemed to accumulate with supernaturals around and humans tended to get suspicious. As she watched him and leaned him against the wall, she heard the thud of another body across the street. The scent was familiar. Hunter. Although instead of a lethal vampire, she sees a little girl. A vampiric little girl by the smell of her but a little girl nonetheless. The small vampire sings happily, full on the adrenaline rush of a two fresh kills.

She walks out into the street, noticing the doll shop and the slumped body that clearly belonged to the owner. She considers it for a moment before calling out to the young girl, "Mon cherie, you've forgotten to lead the silly humans down the wrong path." She turns back towards the shop and immediately the windows smash and the things whirl around. Inside, there were a few little trinkets, some older lace and such nestled in around the dolls themselves. When she was finished her work, she knew the silent alarm had been triggered, and from inside she takes a few dresses that would fit the doll within Anna-Marie's doll and a few pieces of jewelry that as she held up to the city lights and tucked into her purse. She walked away, the dresses following her as neared her. She looked at the hunter, gracefully stepping over his body and holding up the high-low dress so that it didn't get the slightest bit of blood on it. "What is a lady without her wardrobe change, hmmm?" She watched the girl, her fangs openly exposed in a well meaning smile. While many vampires did not get along with each other, Marjorie was a social creature.

The Duchess watches the elder vampire. Did her mind mature without her body or was she stuck as a child for the last however many years she had been alive? How stupid the human population was to underestimate a little girl with a face that even cherubs would fall in love with. Marjorie had always had a desire for those where there would be mutual benefits. "I am Marjorie de Vere. What may I call you?" Besides, it was generally a good idea to know those who were older than you, even if it was in the form of a human doll.
