East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

...To Think I Might Not See Those Eyes...
...Makes it so Hard Not to Cry...

I watch the people passing by, most in a harried rush to escape the wet of the rain. Some others armed themselves with umbrellas, and none paid me any mind.

inquisitive amethyst eyes sparkled over the rim of my coffee cup as I observed, my gaze falling unto the young man who made his way along the sidewalk towards the Inner Sanctum with eyes that looked upon the establishment as if it had been a God-Send. His eyes looked tired, his body weary and soaked from the rain... but there was no mistaking what he was.

We, or at least I, can sense the Craft in others of our kind.

I watch him carefully from my inconspicuous seat beneath the covered table, taking note of how...sullen, his aura seemed to be. Is everyone in this town depressed? I suppose city life can do that to a person.

He enters the coffee shop without so much as turning his head to notice me and I can see his figure through the window as he spoke to the male Barista behind the counter.

My own mocha was nearly gone by now, but the pads of my thumbs skimmed the warmth that still clung to the sides of the cup as I contemplated the rest o my day. I still wanted to stop by the book store, and find some place that sold art and craft supplies so I could re-stock on paints and brushes and canvases... plus I badly needed a new sketch pad. And then I suppose I should stop by a market and find something to throw together for dinner.

I very much enjoyed cooking, but when you were cooking for one, it seems to lose it's luster and my enthusiasm for fun meals goes out the window. More often then not I would just end up buying an oven-bake pizza or something quick like that. But not today. Today, I was going to buy some salmon. It wouldn't taste with the freshness or flavor of the wild caught salmon from my native homeland of Alaska... but it would be a sweet comfort food to remind me of home nonetheless.

Eyes glance back to the window, just in time to see the Barista's eyes flick to me curiously, his head bobbing in a nod towards my direction as if he and the man at the counter were talking about me. A single brow arcs curiously, wondering why I might have come up as a topic of conversation. But alas, with a final sip my mocha was gone, and it would seem I might find out the answer to the unspoken question as I stand and step back into the coffee house.

I walked towards the counter, politely acting as if I had not noticed anything out of the ordinary, and when a convenient moment came available I glanced to the man at the counter.

"Pardon Me, I don't mean to interrupt..." I spoke with a soft smile before turning to the Barista "But could I get another one of these?" I asked, holding up the now-empty raspberry mocha. "And an extra double-shot Espresso to go as well?"
