East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

the vultures, why, they circled

Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

One bright blue eye angled briefly upwards in a sharp look of surprise, of all the Hunters in this city he had somehow managed to find the one that apparently liked tofu. No one liked tofu. Arlo allowing some measure of doubt to creep into his expression, assured the woman was just screwing with him all the same if only for the joy of it. As if somehow questioning his own analogies might destabilise him further, every instinct in his frame so screaming at him to get away from her, to put more distance between them rather than engage her in a conversation about food. Food however, seemed to be exactly what she wanted to talk about, at least in some sense. The woman asking after just why he had felled the other vampire in the alleyway, as if she hardly knew that more then one type of vampire existed in the world. Her words demanding off him with that silver knife poised in her hand. He was not an argumentative creature, not truly, Arlo far more inclined to yield then fight and yet he was a vampire all the same- designed to be a predator even if her kind was hardly what he preyed on. Her biting words and aggressive stance only pressing further upon his own irritation though he merely gritted his teeth for now. Affording the woman some measure of patience if only because he knew how that silver tasted as it bit into flesh.

Her demand that he stop scooting saw the man hesitate if only slightly, Arlo daring to take a few more steps all the same before he found that knife pointed at him again, his words as much a distraction as they were the truth, his momentum halted as he eyed that blade with disdain. He could hardly help the scoff that fell from his lips at her assurance she would honour her word, those azure eyes narrowing upon her beneath those lashings of dark hair as he regarded her evenly once more. They all said that. All of them. Though none of them had ever put the knife away. Arlo at last allowing his feet to come to a halt on that rain-slick roof, watching her with something akin to curiosity now though that wariness remained. The woman assuring him she had just one more question before he could got back to being a vigilante. Ha. As if he had a choice about his meal preferences. Though he supposed, on some level it might be true, he wasn't killing any humans so he was saving them- by extension. That was a twisted way of looking at it and yet he hardly corrected her all the same, the woman decidedly close to him now and yet, for once, he simply remained where he was, eyeing that small space between them, judging just how quickly he could toss her aside if he had too. She was barely a stride away. Unarmed. She was either stupid or telling the truth when it came to not hurting him. His gaze held on her won now beneath that rain. Why?

"I...."

Why indeed. The vampire frowning slightly, one hand lifting to push those wet strands of hair back beneath the cowl of his hood as he shifted his weight. What was it to her? Why did she need to know? Why was she asking him these things? Hunters never held the best interest of prey at heart. This was about that other Hunter, surely, the one he'd gotten into trouble with that day with the WereDog. Did the council know? Had they sent this one after him on purpose? Suspicion filling his gaze once more, those words chosen with distinct care.

"I don't feed on them because I like the taste better. I do it because that's what I need to survive. I'm a different type of vampire. There is more than one type you know, some feed on mortals, some feed on sex, some on emotions, some, like me, on vampires themselves. As for hating them I..."

He frowned slightly once more, those words upon his lips before he hesitates, eyes leaving her own, a simper of sorts touching his lips then. Arlo so suddenly becoming a little bit bolder. Give him an inch it seems- and he will take a mile.

"I think the better question is why do you hate them? I'd rather hear that."
