East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

LIKE STARLIGHT INTO DAY
A COLD WIND ON YOUR SHOULDER

She could feel it beneath her, the metal, the heat and all that noise. She could feel when it tried to stop, tried to avoid whatever it was that had spooked it so. But it couldn't, it hadn't. It had been a slow lift of the nose and she was tossed against the reinforced metal cage around her. There was noise then, screeching and whining and tearing. A large crash, her cage came free of its bindings and the covering tossed over the top slipped. She toppled, the cage toppled, her head was spinning and her claws tried to find purchase but it only found metal. She clipped her head against the corner of, what she assumed, was her cage and the darkness in the truck swam.

As the screeching finally came to a halt, she was panting, her chest rising and falling rapidly with her fear. She lay still for long moments before she opened her eyes, the cage had warped around her and was digging into her shoulder. But the door was open. The door was never open. She wiggled her body, testing her legs before squirming towards the opening. Metal. Too close. Small, she chanted in her head, the flickering power of her telepathy throwing it to the streets around her. Move, blood, too close, it came out in a jumble again as she pushed. She managed to free herself from the ruin of the cage, laying for a moment to survey her surroundings. It was still dark, the heat of the metal around her was evident but she could smell the chill on the other side. She didn't smell the salt of her oceans, sea's that she had never seen. But she knew, she could tell. The air smelled different.

Blood, metal, close, close, close, her telepathy lashed out again as she settled towards the back of the vehicle. Youth gave her a small, gangly darkened body, all legs with a cub's stubbornness to investigate. Instead, she waited, curling tightly into a ball in the corner, brilliant silver eyes locked on the door. The only thing able to be seen is the glow of her eyes and the dull reflection of light metal around her throat.
