East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I've forgotten how it felt before...

The weight of the pots and pans jostling is enough to cause strain on my arms as I help steady the box, having seen the way Mi was slamming left and right. No doubt her hand would be tender after such a hit and I wonder for a moment if I should touch her, heal it. After all, it was so minor that it was doubtful she would notice; I recognized she was a human. Some time spent in the city had honed my skill at deducing who was other and who was normal, not that I preferred either company. I tended to swing between the normalcy of regular humans and the eccentric mannerisms of the supernatural. At least with a human the only danger I was in was from being found out and as a witch it was much easier to hide ones abilities than, say, turning into some furry critter.

She accepts my help with no fuss, directing us up and to her new apartment. Boxes lay everywhere, the perpetual state of disarray after such a haul, and it takes some finagling to get us through the doorway with all fingers intact. My own knuckles had scraped the edges and left them semi-raw but I rubbed it away as we set the pots down and she smiles at me. I take her hand with an easy grin. "I am Sorcha," I offer, my voice lilting in my native Scottish twang for a moment before I glance down at the pots that she has revealed.

My grin widens at the sight, eyes twinkling with wit. "Ah, so you have a love of cooking I see! I have very little use for pots and pans as I tend to burn most things." I frown now, silently remembering all the times my mother had gawked at my horrid attempts at cooking. A witch that could brew the best of healing potions but could barely sear a steak. "Are you new to the city, Mi?" My head dips to the side in a questioning manner but friendly nonetheless, not quite ready to abandon her to whatever business she needs to do. Part of me is eager to get to know someone else, someone knew, someone uncomplicated, and if it meant I had to offer my skills with unpacking then I was prepared to sacrifice the rest of my afternoon.
