East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I should have known she was watching to see if I could really come into the house without an invitation. Of course, she's good at looking like she's not watching. We make our way further into the house. I do notice that she's strict about how much space is between us but I don't take offense. It's a big step to be in her house, of that much, I'm sure. She asks about tea and I tell her strong as can be. It had no flavor otherwise. She brings it to me promptly with a biscuit propped beside it. I look at it before glancing at her with a smirk.

"It looks almost too good to eat."

Trying for a compliment, I take up the biscuit and dip it in the tea before taking a bite, watching as she heads back for her own tea. I lean back in the chair, looking completely comfortable in my surroundings. She takes her time coming back with her tea and I raise a brow at her back, sure that she's doing something she probably wouldn't normally. Daring. Even so, she answers my question. Her answers are getting more drawn out to my utter satisfaction. I can't help but tilt my head in curiosity. Her father? I take another bite of my biscuit, my gaze expectant. I want more.

She sits down and eats at her own biscuit, her bites mere nibbles. Fortunately, she does choose to expand on her answer. Now it makes sense. I can't help but grin. Afraid of animals? How manly of him. Then she asked what I do. I mull it over.

"Well I got a job offer at a night club but I don't know if I want to accept it or not. Other than that, you could call me an entrepeneur."

I shrug my shoulders as if it's nothing. I do all kinds of work here and there. I take a sip of tea and lower my voice.

"Of course, when you've got five or six retirement funds, who needs a job? I was in the military, you know. They pay good."

I smirk, taking another sip. She looks at me before blushing and looking away and my eyes glisten slyly.
