East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

God I Want to Dream Again

I am quite impressed with the weather we have been having lately. I mean my goodness it's been raining non-stop. And I don't mean it's been raining cats and dogs. I mean it is raining cats, dogs, goats, cows, bulls, and pretty damn sure hippos are included. My God it's as if God himself is trying to drown the world once again with water. Thankfully I am not out there and I have no plans of going outside any time soon. The café is warm and dry, and, well I'm bored. I mean with ugly bad weather you'd think people would be willing to come into the café to enjoy a warm beverage. Sadly that is not the case. Everyone seemed to want to stay home and well, I can't really blame them. There aren't a lot of patrons sitting in here, and they all seemed pretty laidback. Which is nice in a way you know. It is good to have a slow day. It allowed me the chance to focus on my powers rather than worry about making some sort of complicated order. It's coffee people. It is nothing special. With few patrons around that meant I had to be very careful so as not to make any of them aware of what was going on. On some patrons I took away their ability to taste and then brought it back. Other times I took away their hearing, or I took away their ability to smell. I wouldn't dare mess around with their eyes. I didn't want one of them to panic. I just wanted to be subtle. Hearing the door open, I stop my play and see the Great Alexander himself barge on it, all over my clean floors. With an audible annoyed sigh, I cock my hip out, as both hands land on them in annoyed way. Seriously the man couldn't wipe his damn boots on the rug. As he asks me a silly question I quickly utter my retort sharply.

"Because linoleum is stain resistant, and fire retardant. Not to mention it is more durable than vinyl, and the wear life is much longer than vinyl."

While he decides to dry himself off I head on over towards the closet for my friends, Mr. Mop and Mrs. Bucket. Really my linoleum floors were absolutely spotless and perfect until he decided to come in. I really should make him clean up his own mess, but even I can tell he seemed a bit peeved. It wasn't my place to know. When he went on 'errands' I would bother to ask for more information. If I needed to know then I am sure he would include me in. As I roll the bucket and mop from behind the counter, I do manage to grab a few sugar cubes and toss them into my mouth. I deserve a very sweet treat I think. As I casually grab the mop and begin to sweep up the rainwater, I can feel the ground shake beneath my feet. Well damn that's weird. I give a slight nod and shrug to Alex, assured I too felt the ground shake, but that I had no idea why it occurred. When his facial features shift I follow his gaze and I cannot help, but say a rather audible 'fuck.' I can actually see quite a peculiar sight, through the thick rain and hazy fog there is a familiar shape of a rhino across the street. My Were senses were tingling and I didn't like the feeling I was getting. Dammnit Alex. Really? REALLY?. Shaking my head I raise my voice so that all could hear, my voice was quite firm as I gave an order...an order they had better well fucking heed.

"Okay ladies and gentlemen you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here. It's time to leave."

You know, I don't like how everyone is staring at me...as if I have the audacity ti kick them out of the café. I may not be the manager, but dammnit I sure as hell can act like one. I slam the mop into the bucket, as I begin to reach out to each patron letting them all feel pain in their feet, the pain was simply a pinch, not deadly or harmful, but enough to get their damn asses moving. My voice holds a curt shrill to it, as I holler once more.

"Oy, I said it's closing time, scram! Let's go go go!

My hands slap together, as I order everyone to go right now. While everyone begins to run out, confused and in some slight pain I look over at Alex. Yes, I know, I shouldn't hurt them, but I mean...they wouldn't leave. I'd rather hurt them like this than see them get crushed by our new best friend, Mr. Rhino. Why the hell was he here anyway? Alex. Thank you sooooooo much. This is going to be soooooo much fun. I signed up to be his barista, not necessarily his partner in crime. I'm supposed to be friends with my kind, not necessarily have one try to attack me. Looking over at the ancient King I sigh with exasperation, as my bright cerulean blue eyes shift to meet his own.

"You know Alex, you really shouldn't mix business with pleasure. Seriously Alex, and here I thought you were actually good at this stuff. You should know better not to piss off our kind, especially one that can actually kill you."
