East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

LET THE GREAT AXE FALL

There is a disturbance in the air.

The breeze shifts this night, invisible cooled fingers slide along his flesh, causing goosebumps to rise on tattooed arms. He pauses on the darkened parts of the streets of the city, a hand reaching to rub through his beard as icy eyes dance along the bustling people around them. Unconsciously, they seem to avoid him, making wide arcs around him as if a sixth sense told them a predator was nearby. His soul aches, a piece of him burning and tearing inside. Not even the cool touch of the breeze can calm the disturbance within that has awoken him from his sleep. His mind aches, voice hissing in displeasure at the invasion of this being.

The world begins to slow, his eyes widening at the surreal feeling of it. Magic? He is unaware of such a thing strong enough for that. The haze his eyes feel in battle return, the bustling people becoming foggy and broken. Like a video screen that is of poor quality. He feels trapped, the world too bright for him though he pauses in the shadows. The humans wander obliviously until suddenly, they all freeze, leaving him alone in this formidable hell.

His soul lurches, that pain greatening as his lips part in a snarl at this devil magic. He moves away from the frozen people, gaze flicking from on motionless presence to another as brows furrow and lips tighten. He is tempted to touch them, to revert it back to normalcy. But then again what is normal anymore when it comes to the viking king's life. Little did he know it was only about to get weirder.

He feels that tug again, that fire filled soul lurch aching and causing a sullen look to flash across his scarred features as he moves, willing to allow the tug and pull of the feeling deeper into the city. His thick hands find his pockets, gaze falling to his boots as he moves like a wraith in a frozen world. The voices stir inside him, head pounding as he moves and meanders through the crowd. The are more in his way in this frozen state and he grumbles every so often as he pushes his way through. And then it finally comes, this overwhelming flame inside his chest. He pauses, teeth gritting as he grips his shirt, the world fast forward, the people brushing into him for he is in a place he wasn't in before. "watch it!" they snap, pushing around the now frozen viking. His gaze lifts from his burning chest, slowly, steadily it rises until it falls on the brooding figure before him.

"what...the hell?"
