East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

oh, to be a vultures lunch

Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

How anyone could not like a Panda he really didn't know. Panda's were delightful creatures, his own Little Bear especially so. Arlo content to look at Mi as if she was the monster in this apartment. He'd never yet met a girl whom turned up her nose at a small, fluffy creature and yet Mi, he was sure, had no actual idea of how to relax in any sense. She was distinctly uptight about everything and yet it was hardly in the man's nature to do more than grin towards her as she fussed about further declaring that his pet need be kept away from her at all times and off of the furniture. Arlo merely allowed one eye to raise upward in a slightly dubious fashion, assured Mi would hardly know wither way if the Panda touched the sofa and yet for her own sanity, surely, it was easier for him to simple nod even if he hardly had any intention of enforcing her laws. What she didn't know wouldn't kill her. Right?

It was easy to push himself away from the wall then, wandering into the kitchen with that assurance he would help even if he hardly had any intention of eating that food. The man still trying to make at least a semi-decent impression on his companion all the same, his words about washing his hands entirely sarcastic and yet offered with that ever-present good humour he seemed to wear like a favoured shirt. Arlo making every attempt to wash his hands as dramatically as possible if only to poke fun at the poor woman as she all but attempted to murder that piece of meat. Alright then. The man half inclined to admit she had some actual skill with a knife even despite assuring her she surely didn't need to chop at it quite so firmly. He was almost sure she had smiled. Almost. His blue gaze resting against her own as she tossed that meat into the pan, gesturing to the vegetables he was charged with cutting. Sure. Right. He could do this couldn't he? Veggies weren't that hard. He'd never actually cut one up before but how hard could it be? The vampire reached easily for the nearest knife, her command to peel the turnip first met with a curious lift of his eyes. Which one was the turnip? It had to be something he could peel.....not this then, no, this looked like a carrot and that was surely broccoli. Maybe. It was probably better not to tell her he didn't know what they were. Arlo reaching for the carrot- a safe choice- before starting to slice it. His shoulders shrugging easily at her words, that grin still in place.

"Nah, don't worry about it. I haven't had a roommate before either."

Well- not since being a vampire anyway. The man content to leave off that detail, his attention returned to his carrot before Mi continued, the woman mentioning how weird the city was, Arlo unable to help that chuckle of amusement that left his lips. If she was truly as oblivious to the supernatural world as she appeared then he didn't doubt she found the world weird. This girl who lived in the woods though merely saw one eye rise in curiosity. He could be a Were, he supposed, he knew there was supposed to be a pack to the West and another somewhere within the city and yet Were's he knew very little about. Although judging by the sound of the girls apparent order she was an entirely carnivorous one. Arlo frowning slightly then. God, how did he explain this without having her think he was, well, insane. Her queries on the mayor, a fellow Arlo knew to be a vampire, met with something of a nervous glance from the man, one hand rubbing idly at the back of his neck as he tried to consider just how broaching that topic might go. Mi very near taking his arm off with a pan as she turned, those vampiric reflexes seeing him stumble back quickly.

"Ah, look Mi.....just be careful about who you go buying clothes for and talking to and stuff. I mean the mayor's probably alright, he' a public figure and all that but this girl in the woods...I....look just be careful alright? This city is a bit, well, not like I think your used too. People aren't what they appear."

As if that made it sound any better. Arlo assured it sounded more as if he was trying to craft the beginnings of a horror story and yet if she didn't know, if she wasn't cautious, who the hell know what would happen to her? Maybe it was just because she lived in his home, well, their home, yet either way that almost territorial sense tugged at him softly. His species notorious for it and yet he could hardly prevent it. A part of the vampire content to consider the woman....his, in a way. At least, his to take care off. A soft sigh parting his lips then as he regarded her, waiting for her to put down both the knife and the pan lest she take this poorly.

"Do you really not know what I am?"

There was no tease of jokes to the words this time. Arlo meeting her gaze levelly- rather assured the woman was either going to attempt to assault him else scream and run.

"I'm a vampire. Like the mayor you met. The girl in the woods was probably some sort of Were-creature. You don't have to worry about me attacking you or anything I promise. I don't do the human blood thing, im not that type of vampire, at least, not very often. I really need you to say something now because I don't know what that look on your face is supposed to be- and when you do say it, could you step away from the knives cause your making me nervous, babe."
