East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Dorian was positively assured he could think of little worse than spending any enumerate amount of days with a jungle, let alone searching for hair within one. The sheer notion of it was enough to dissuade him from the idea, let alone the fact he was assured jungle or forests or any of those overly wild places held very little in the way of...comforts. It was, he supposed, a terrible vain line of thought and yet he had spent a lifetime surrounded by the very best the world had to offer in each given century. Traipsing through a jungle with dirt and mud and water and a very high chance of encountering at least one bug was so far from his idea of pleasant it was barely worth considering. Sebastian too, he was sure, would hardly be inclined to that sort of adventure. Dorian taking perhaps more comfort then he should from the Hunter's assurance that such a trip was surely one he need not ever worry about making. Dorian wholly oblivious to that touch of amusement Alexander had already found at his mention of it.

That drink was readily offered to him then, Dorian moving to seat himself at the counter Alexander leaned upon, the Monarch gently pulling that creamy coffee towards himself with a word of thanks before lifting it to his lips in ready delight. That glorious taste of fresh cream was a veritable luxury he had once lived without for so long and yet one he was assured tasted better each and every time he was given to have it. Dorian commenting upon the taste of that treat and too the manner in which he might have it all to himself without Sebastian leaning over to pilfer the cream from it any time the Fae moved to look away. That small shrug the fell from the Hunter's shoulders momentarily drew Dorian's own silver gaze upward, the man offering then to make Sebastian his own coffee for Dorian to take home. Such an offer was hardly anticipated, the manner in which Alexander so seemed to dislike vampires had hardly been missed and yet the Fae was hardly inclined to reject such an offer all the same. That warm simper finding his lips as he nodded readily.

"I think he would like that very much, thank you."

How pleasing it would be to present Sebastian with a treat upon his return home! The vampire having seemed quite taken with the idea of Dorian spending time with Matteo all the same, even though Matteo had all together apparently abandoned him. Not that he so found he minded. Dorian quite inclined to admit he hardly found Alexander as disagreeable as he had been want to in those first few moments of their meeting. Indeed, the Monarch found himself largely intrigued by the man. He had met so few Hunter's within his time that to converse with one alone was something of an oddity, especially one whom seemed to spend his time crafting coffee and pastry- Alexander perhaps equally quick to correct such assumptions the moment Dorian asked off them. This entire career so apparently the result of a lost bet! How or why Matteo and Alexander so chose to gamble with such high stakes he hardly knew and yet, he supposed, if it pleased them both to do as such there seemed little harm in it. Provided Matteo did not gamble anything within his own country away. Dorian having not yet forgotten the Frenchman's admittance he had lost the entire Rivera to Alexander over Christmas. It was that mention of Chambord however, that seemed to spark the Monarch's interest. That a name he knew well if only for Matteo's frequent mention of it and too- his knowledge that the man often spent the summer there and had done so this year passed. Dorian seeing little need not to share that information, the man taking a sip off his coffee before offering it aloud, Alexander seizing upon it within a matter of moments. Dorian unable to prevent that chuckle that fell from his own lips at the Hunter apparent delight in this and his determination to charge the other Fae some ridiculous amount of money for that free lodging this summer passed.

"Do not let him pay in Euro, I am assured he will try, he enjoys that trick."

That almost impish simper so danced readily upon his lips then, Dorian taking delight in someone, at last, having the capability to take on Matteo at his own game. The Monarch almost displeased he would surely not be present to see Alexander deliver this news nor Matteo so attempt to swindle his companion as Dorian had seen him do before with that currency conversion. Sebastian so having taught him considerable amount about such things during their time in England all the same. Dorian inclined to admit a sense of pleasure of a sort, in so assisting that Hunter too, potentially, have lessened his time within that café. The Monarch offering the man yet another grin before returning to his drink, finishing the last of that cream now before those further thoughts played at his mind.

They were silly thoughts, he was sure, the sort of thoughts that should not have bothered him at all and yet he had thought so very much on that upcoming afternoon tea that there was little he had not considered- and how they might play on his mind! Matteo, for his part, was notoriously poor at answering those questions, Dorian perhaps oddly nervous to ask them if only because, perhaps, he feared those answers all at once and yet tonight he was so presented with a rather unique opportunity. If there was any other being within all this world who might know those answers then surely it was the one before him. Dorian hardly inclined to so waste this opportunity to ask. Alexander, after all, hardly seemed the sort of man who enjoyed those word games as Matteo did. The Hunter seeming far more given to blunt truths and tonight it was perhaps that very thing he sought. Dorian finding it somehow.....easier to ask those things to Alexander then Matteo himself.

His gaze lifted readily upward at the other man's assertion that Matteo was a 'right coward' when it came to Dorian himself, a touch of amusement tainting his features if only for the notion Dorian was assured he was perhaps no better when it came to speaking of those family matters to Matteo in turn. Alexander sighing softly before continuing then, claiming Matteo had so apparently failed to learn how to speak to him in all those years. The Fae so found himself almost anxious once more in that moment of silence, the man almost regretting asking that question, his gaze lifted once more at that utterance off his name from Alexander's lips. The Monarch quite unable to prevent that warm simper that flooded his features in the wake of those words, Dorian feeling almost as if a weight of sorts had been lifted from his shoulders, foolish as it surely was. It was important...somehow...to hear those words, even if from Alexander. His features brightened noticeably in that moment, even if Matteo so liked to talk about him in the throes of drunkenness. That he was talked about at all was glorious to him to hear. He had been sure, mostly, that Matteo surely thought....highly of him in some regard and yet to hear it meant all the more. He wanted that Frenchman to be proud of him after all. His features however, frowned slightly at the man's mention of Matteo being pleased he had lived past fourteen. Why on earth fourteen should be important he hardly knew. To live past mere infancy in such a day and age was perhaps a more notable feat and yet he hardly commented on it now.

"Thank you, Alexander. It is foolish I know, but I simply desired to hear it."

He was apt to move that conversation elsewhere all the same, the Monarch elated to hear of even that small touch of affection, even if he so made to act as if those words were not nearly so important as they were, nor the manner in which he might treasure them to repeat to Sebastian later when he retold this story. Dorian instead inquiring to that tale of just how Alexander had come to meet Matteo at all those thousand years ago. Such a length of time seeming veritably unfathomable! His curiosity was readily intrigued, his attention so fully upon the other man now, that simple mention of their meeting in France so seeing Dorian continue to look expectantly at his Godfather, even if he hardly knew it, waiting for the rest of that story. So many of those names and places the Hunter spoke off were unfamiliar to him and yet several of them he understood. Roman. Kingdoms. Foot Solider. Paris. Those words holding some meaning to him if only for all his reading, the young man near riveted at that tale, his features pulling into that soft simper once more. A soft chuckle parting his lips.

"I cannot picture him in his youth, nor as a foot solider. He had told me once that when he was young, he could not control or focus his visions as he does now, that they came to him abruptly. Why did you have a mind to listen to him all those years ago?"

It was a curious question perhaps and yet Dorian so found himself intrigued of the very character of the man before him, let alone his age if Matteo had been a mere boy at the time, Dorian so wondering just what had made Alexander stop so many centuries ago- before that story so seemed to fully find hold within his thoughts.

"Do you mean to tell me you and Matteo so helped found the city of Paris!? This is remarkable."

The utter awe within his voice was surely clear as Alexander pushed away from that bench, Dorian assured he had several hundred more questions all the same as that ever curious mind turned within him. That sudden mention of a gift saw those silver eyes return to the Hunter then as the man gestured up those stairs, so assuring him he could bring his drink and that he should not be too excited. That look of ready intrigue resting upon his face.

"I fear it is perhaps a little too late for that. I found the story alone quite exciting."

He uttered softly. The Fae utterly delighted in gifts of any kind, even ones as unexpected as this. Dorian momentarily aghast he had not brought anything for Alexander in turn...
