East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Ain't life just awful strange (open)

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

Gia Jones stared down at the steaming black contents of her mug and scowled. The rich aroma of the coffee was making her stomach churn, but she knew the only way she'd feel better is if she somehow managed to swallow it all down. But she'd been staring at the full mug for a good five minutes now, warming her hands around the porcelain, but never bringing it to her lips. Usually when the dark hunter drank coffee, she spiked it with a bit of whiskey. But given the events that transpired the night before, she was trying her hardest to steer herself away from that kind of debilitating habit.

Buffy had a splitting headache. She'd never experienced vertigo before but imagined the lingering uneasiness she was feeling now was something a lot like it. Maybe this was just the most extreme hangover she'd ever had. Or maybe she was still feeling the ill effects of being drugged from last night. No matter what happened, Buffy couldn't shake the shameful feeling that hung over her like a dark cloud today in the aftermath. Her memory was hazy, but when images of the men from that bar popped into her brain, she'd clench her fists tightly in reaction. When she first woke up back home in her bed alone and her brain began to register the night's previous events, she proceeded to punch a series of holes in her walls. Begrudgingly she dragged herself into the bathroom where she vomited more than once, then managed to take a shower. And Buffy had been holed up in her neighborhood coffee shop ever since.

The dark hunter's dark hair was still wet, and hung in knotted clumps around her face. The fabric of her wrinkled T-shirt was wet at her shoulders were her locks came to rest. She let her messy hair cover her face in an attempt to shield herself from any onlookers who might know her, like the ladies from yoga or worse. Luckily it was daytime, so she knew she had a few more hours before she could potentially run into Sebastian. Just thinking about the vampire made her feel queasy all over again. Sebastian was her savior last night. She could not begin to express how appreciative she was at the time and that made her feel overwhelmed. The dark hunter had treated him so terribly during their previous altercations. Like most vampires, she had judged him harshly. Buffy knew the second she heard his voice at the bar last night that he would help her. She knew she had nothing to fear, and that she could trust him in this moment. She couldn't explain it, but she felt it in her gut. It scared her. If it wasn't for Sebastian, there was no telling how or when or if she could have managed to make it out of that bar and away from those men.

And now she was left alone with this physically sickening feelings, and an array of weird, complicated feelings about the vampire who helped her. Buffy stared down at her mug of coffee, the scowl still very much present across her sweating and pale features. She breathed a deep sigh, and slugged the mug to her lips, gulping down the hot, earthy liquid until there was nothing left in her cup.
