East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

There were many reasons that the blue-eyed blonde needed a steady flow of hours and income, accompanied by a fair handful of reasons that she wanted to put her first strong efforts into pursuing a possible position here at the café she enjoyed coming to often. Perhaps the largest reason being that she wanted to prove to her mother and father this dream of making a place for herself among through towering skyscrapers and rushing streets seemingly always alive with torrents of people coming and going to wherever the day carried them was not something like a fleeting fancy or fascination. Now that was not to say that they didn't believe in her when she'd first told them about her determination to move into the limits of Sacrosanct, leaving behind the calm and easy-going lifestyle that came effortlessly living in a small, rural town. Like any good parents, they did their best to support their eager daughter in whatever ambitions she chose to chase - even if the last thing they had wanted was for her to move so far away. They had admittedly tried to dissuade her from picking this city out of three various larger towns that were closer to home, but Beylani being the driven young thing that they had been played a huge part in creating, she insisted that Sacrosanct was where she wanted to be. Little did she know what the future would hold for her here, but not knowing was half the thrill of it all and she was happy to let life carry her to where it was she was intended to be, no matter the trials that awaited. Alongside the want to prove to her dear mother and father that she was stronger than she had been as a little girl and was ready to face the world on her own, there was the excitement that came with new experiences and learning new trades. She was hardly one to not give something at least one or two tries before either moving on or decidedly working even harder to fully understand whatever it was she delved into whole-heartedly (and of course curiously), and while she knew what the things in life were that she enjoyed that did not mean she would not attempt her hand at something that might just catching her interest. But then again, being a barista was something she'd like to think herself capable of. That all rested in the hands of the man behind the counter.

Delight glitters within those baby blue eyes of hers as he extends his own hand to Beylani, accepting her brief handshake and she considered this a tiny victory, but a victory all the same. Mr. Plum had been very much like the older man whose sharp gaze did not seem to leave a part of her unstudied as he likely scrutinized her neatness and overall disposotion, understandably attempting to decide if she were worth that piece of paper to fill out with the required information on those many lines. The old man from her childhood had been feared by all the children in Willowhaven, but even then they would make games out of taunting the old man as mischievous children often did. Beylani had never been part of these games as a little girl, if anything having also been a chosen victim of their almost cruel jeers and laughter as they teased and bullied her. And so, she'd seen in Mr. Plum that he was always sitting alone there on that front porch of his with few who offered him a kind word that was frequently met with disinterest or suspicion, and decided that she would do the "unthinkable". She'd asked her mother to help her bake some oatmeal cookies for Mr. Plum and one Sunday afternoon she had taken them to him herself. The blue-eyed blonde would be lying if she said that she hadn't nervous at first, but somehow she'd managed to convince him to let her share in an afternoon with him. Perhaps it had been her youth, the innocence in those big blue eyes, or the sugary sweetness in her pitched voice, but whatever the reason he had invited her through that white picket fence of his and there she'd been rewarded with stories of times long ago, and a new friendship. The lesson she had learned then after spending hours with that grumpy old man who truly was just as lonely as he appeared had taught Beylani just how important it was to believe that every heart had a light, no matter how gruff the exterior.

She was hardly prepared when he beckons her to follow him around the bar and begins to walk into the back hallway. Was he going to interview her here and now!? Surely that had the be some sort of good sign right? In all honesty she hadn't even the slightest idea if perhaps there was something about what she'd said that prompted this or if just maybe he was trying to weed out those who wouldn't even make it to the so-called preliminaries of a real interview, but the young woman knew better than to ask questions. Keeping her nerves controlled, she is quick to fall into step just behind him, almost like some lost puppy one might dare to compare her to. She follows him through a doorway and into what she could only guess was his office, baby blue gaze tracing curiously along the impeccable room as she noted the perfectly organized binders and took a fleeting moment to admire the intricately places furniture that was dusted and cleaned. He gestured for her to sit at one of the chairs across from his, a beautifully crafted and stained hardwood desk separating the two of them. It reminded her of something that her father would make and sell for a fair price, but she says nothing to this effect and instead situates herself comfortably in that arm chair across the way from where the older man now sat, judging gaze never straying from the young woman. She remembers well her mother's words of advice and ensures that she is sitting up straight and hands folded neatly into her lap, her gaze meeting his softly and brightly. He wastes no time in beginning the interrogation or interview, whatever test the essential that he were placing before her now and she takes only a small moment to gather the words."I worked at the local farmer's market in my hometown for a couple years, my primary duties listed as tending the register and keeping the produce organized and free of spoiled fruits or vegetables, but my latest job was a waitress at the only diner in Willowhaven. I also did a few odd jobs for the neighbors when I was younger, helping with mucking out stalls and feeding the animals. On occasion I would also help my father from time to time with his carpentry sanding and staining his pieces for him", she answers confidently with that sweet smile dancing over blush-colored lips as she pauses for a moment for fear or rattling on."Unfortunately there weren't any coffee shops in my hometown, but I did brew the coffee at the diner and serve it to customers along with taking their orders. I'd like to think that most of my working career so far has manifested in me a fair amount for customer service skills and instilled in me good work ethic. I've never missed a day of working and I try my best in all I do. Part of my reasoning to hope I might work here is because I very much enjoy trying my hand at new things. That and I've always loved coffee ever since my mother would allow me to start drinking it, though when I was little she'd always make sure there was more milk in it than anything", she carries on with her smile brightening as a small and gentle note of laughter found her voice at the last string of words. Surely that was not something he cared the know about Beylani, but he had asked her a question and she wanted to give him all the information that he might need or want, and even a little more if she could. She doubted that he would find much humor in her last words, but that didn't mean it would hurt to try and ease the intensity of this encounter right?
