East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was actually pretty hard to not appear homeless now that she actually knew a little bit about hygiene. There was a time when she wouldn't know what it was like to brush her hair, let alone put on perfume and wear a little makeup. But now that she was having to break into people's houses and take a shower and use their products to make herself look decent, she was coming to appreciate the finer things like your own shower a little more. She knew she didn't have to be homeless. Leaving the Ark had been her decision. No one had asked her to leave. It just felt awkward in that moment in the room when everyone was gathered and she felt so out of the loop. There was too much emotion and too much unity and it just made her feel that much more like an outsider so at the time, it just felt right to go out on her own. She knew Raven would take her back in a heartbeat and she knew even Tetradore cared about her wellbeing a little. But she wanted purpose and at the time, it didn't seem to be there so she left. She'd been patrolling more and training more and she felt she was getting rather good at using her powers now.

She could pull the shield up pretty much without thinking and thrust it away from her body, even to protect other people. She could summon a weapon without even thinking or moving her hand, simply bringing her hand up to attack with whatever weapon she was thinking of at the time and it would suddenly be there, whether its to slice at something with a knife or draw back a bow. Everything was getting simplier and she thrived in it, but she still felt lonely. She was without a pack and she had been for a long time now. At least she had Alexander to help fill the lonely nights sometimes, but she didn't want to hoard him. He had other tasks after all. She didn't want to seem clingy and she tried to pretend everything was normal. Luckily other than the awkward moment with him asking to come pick her up at her place for a date, they hadn't really discussed where she lived so it was an easy subject to avoid. Today was a busy day at the cafe so not a lot of downtime to talk personal life anyways. She filled orders one after the other, having picked up a routine rather quickly after working here for so long.

She could take an order, make the stuff and bring it to the customer in record time. The only thing that still made her fumble was taking cash and making change on the register. The touch screen never failed to press a different button than the one she would swear she was pressing. And then the customer would complain that she gave the wrong change. And then Alexander or someone else would have to come bail her out and apologize to the customer and she'd beat herself up about it the rest of the day. But today was almost over and as the last customer left with a smile on her face, Alexis decided to call it a win. She helped close up for the day and said goodbye to Alexander with a swift kiss before heading out the door. As she turned around after waving good bye to everyone though, the last person she thought she'd see was the Ark's alpha walking down the sidewalk. She actually thought about ducking back into the cafe until he went by but she knew that would be cowardly. Besides, he might not have even saw her, right?
