East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I know that Raven likes to be outside over being trapped in a house any day. I'm the same way, used to the wide open over walls and ceilings. I know that I'm not the reason she chooses to stay away all the time, I just wish I didn't have to spend so much time in the big empty house myself. I usually go out to run in the woods or explore the town when I figure out that she's not coming home. When I am there, I spend most of my time listening for the door so I know she's back.

I'm concerned about hunters in the town so when she tells me that she saw one, I ask if she's okay. She replies with confidence and I can't help but smile. Raven always knows how to soothe my frayed nerves.

"I know you are."

I agree genuinely. She winks and I giggle lightly. Now she turns her attention to the cafe in question and I wait anxiously for her reaction. She tilts her head and follows me inside and I wait with bated breath. I reach for her hand, having grown to trust her enough for touch but she lets out a yelp of surprise and I cringe instinctively, thinking I may have hurt her or she doesn't want to be touched. I let go of her hand as soon as she's inside the cafe. She starts looking around and I shift nervously beside her as I, too, take in all the sights and smells I've come to adore. When she finally looks back at me, she grins and I smile in return, already knowing that she likes it. I duck my head sheepishly at her question.

"I kind of came across it by accident. I was...running from the meat man."

I watch as she starts to roam around the cafe. When she takes a seat in a dark corner booth, I follow and sit across from her, giving her plenty of time to keep looking around. A waitress comes over almost instantly with a warm smile on her face and I smile back, feeling better with Raven with me. She gives her order and looks to me. I still have no idea about these places and what they serve so I shrug my shoulders a little.

"Coffee and a bagel please."

It's the only things I know they have. I look back at Raven once she leaves, my voice hesitant.

"Will you be staying at the house tonight?"

I almost dread the answer.
