East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

You would think in his thousand year lifetime, he would have done his reading up on other supernatural species but he'd kept a habit of keeping to himself. Godric was all he had for that first 1000 years. When Godric was gone, only then did Erik really start learning about the rest of the world. He had kept himself so cut off from everything before that none of it mattered. He wasn't sure what she knew about vampires but obviously she didn't know a lot or she wouldn't be asking questions like if he could turn into a bat. Just the idea was laughable. Stupid hollywood movies. They messed everything up. He caught her looking at him from the side and he raised a brow but didn't question it. She probably had a lot on her mind right now with everything that happened to her.

She chuckled at his comment about Darwin, saying he was well on his way to understanding. He smirked. "Guess that Cats for Dummies book came in handy after all." He glanced down at the cat with a thoughtful scowl before looking back at her. Pets were never his style. When he ran with Godric, they lived on their own and hunted both animals and people. They did what it took to survive and partied on their immortality. Godric shared his gift of being able to walk in the sun with Erik, his first power, so it felt like nothing could ever truly stop them. They were invincible, gods. He noted the look she gave Darwin, as if she wanted to hold him and never let go. They were definitely on different spectrums when it came to fondness for animals. She rolled her eyes and he smirked, listening as she said today was her lucky day. A chuckle fell from his lips.

"Guess so." He tilted his head when she told him that the cat was her familiar and wouldn't harm her. "Something else I'll have to learn a little more about. Is that a witch thing?" He figured since she was asking questions, it was only fair that he could too. After a few minutes, she started laughing...and it didn't stop. He raised a brow and watched her intently again. What was this about? "Penny for your thoughts?" It was worth a shot. If she said no then she said no. Nothing lost, nothing gained. She was probably exhausted and delirious from everything so he wouldn't hold it against her for going a little crazy. It often hit him how fragile other human species were, even as supernaturals. When he gave her his age, she told him he kept up well. "Thanks, I guess." He smirked. She even demanded a demonstration of his Dracula accent. "We'll just have to see." He said with a teasing wink.

She shook her head at his house, but it was amusement, not disapproval he read on her face. She said it was lovely and he shrugged. "It does the job." Modesty was in his nature. He led the way to the house, opening the door and holding it for her to walk in first. He was still a gentleman by nature, even if he was more a cave man in other ways of this modern world. He figured she would be a little taken aback by Adele's nature. Pretty much everyone who first met her was taken off guard by the petite Irish woman. She had a nature all her own but she brought life into his home and he couldn't be more grateful to her for that. Erik scowled thoughtfully as the cat raced by, disappearing toward the kitchen. He glanced at Adele. "By the way, we might need to invest in a litter box and some cat food." He glanced at Sorcha, hoping she was okay with this.

Once he turned Adele's attention to Sorcha, he knew she'd be a goner. Adele had that way of charming any guest he did bring home, even though those were very few and far between. Maybe a handful if that. She was a mother hen and that extended to anyone under his roof. She never asked questions, but she was an amazing listener if someone wanted to open up, and most of the time they did for her if no one else. She just had that way with people, especially when they were scared and unsure of things. Adele moved her toward the bathroom and he gave a little nod of his head when Sorcha looked back, his way of saying it was okay. He knew Adele would take care of her and help ease any discomfort she might feel. Meanwhile, he was going to warm up some blood so he'd have no distractions for later.

Adele smiled warmly at her as she gave her name. "A pleasure to meet you, miss Sorcha. I'm Adele, Erik's cook and head mistress. This is my nest and you, my dear, are going to be well taken care. Erik doesn't bring home stragglers for nothing. In fact, I don't think I've seen any new faces in....well, it's been quite a while. You should count yourself lucky. Under his protection is a good place to be." She smiled knowingly as she steered her into the bathroom and started setting out candles and putting the right amount of bath soap into the water. She got the water temperature to just right, warm enough to be cozy but not to scald. Bubbles foamed on the surface. She laid out a big fluffy towel and bathrobe and set out the best hair products and body wash for her, complete with her choice of a loofa or rag.

Shaking her head, she turned back to Sorcha. "Don't you worry. Your little feline friend is in good hands. I'll get Darlene to pick up some stuff to keep him entertained. She'll be delighted to have a pet in the house." Then she wrinkled her nose a little, as if remembering what the cat looked like as it streaked into the house. "He'll probably smell a lot better next time you see him anyway. I bet Darlene has already gotten her claws into him." She smiled wider. "She fancies herself a groomer though she's never taken a class in her life. Poor dear's probably going to want to hide under your bed for months once she gets done with him." She giggled lightly into her hand as she walked to the door. "If you need anything, dear, just call. I'll be getting your room prepared. Any favorite foods I should lay out for dinner? Oh, and there's a tray of fruits and toast coming in a few minutes. Feel free to grab a few snacks. You must be starving."
