East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

all this devotion was rushing over me, and the crashes are heaven, for a sinner like me, but the arms of the ocean deliver me.

"I think you're right. Who would miss such a trollop?"

A tell-tale smile graced my light-pink painted lips, the expression brightening my features in a way that would effuse humor and let the man know I was happy to play along even if the woman had left our presence. He seemed calm and inviting, welcoming in his demeanor even if only because I had done him the favor of helping him rid himself of the leech-like woman. Then again, weren't most bottom-feeder women like that? With the potentially judgmental and probably rude thought bouncing around the walls of my immediate thoughts, I feigned an indignant roll of my eyes when the subject of witches' blood rose instead of the previously pressing matter of removing the leech-lady. The blood was too rich? Damn right! As his words reach my ears with a level of wry derision audible in his tone, I can feel a smirk comparable to his own replacing the smile gracing my features only moments prior.

"Good answer. Though I'll have you know, there is special floss for that even if it is made by that ungodly magic."

I winked, an impish wave of light brightening my crystalline eyes. Before having the ability to mix freely with other species, I hadn't had many answers to potentially ridiculous questions which might have all been in the realm of what ate what in a predatory hierarchy of supernatural creatures. Thoughtfully, I'd posed the question to myself before but the man's confirmation that he wasn't prepared to be snacking on any witches in the near future satisfied me enough that I was more than happy to accompany him for some real food instead of this hypothetical witch nonsense. Following his proclamation that there would be no devouring of me in the near future, all thoughts moved towards the destination of what kind of food would please me.

"I have to pick up the piece I had waiting, but then I am all about some Chinese food if you are partial to it, too!"

I could have eaten the lo-mein day and night. When my family first entered the United States, we tried just about every different ethnic food we could find, regardless of the common complaints that the foods didn't even remotely resemble their worldly counterparts. We had never been able to partake in such glorious goodness that I was more than happy to over-indulge on a fairly regular basis... Who was I to pass it up now? After thanking the employee and paying for the gift for my sister, I happily returned my gaze and attention to the vampire who had made my acquaintance under such an abnormal guise.

"...Do vampires even eat food?" As an afterthought, a very gentle flush graced my cheeks as I began to realize that perhaps, that was not a polite question to ask a vampire. Manners aside, it didn't strike me that this man was the type to take many comments personally or otherwise. I was hesitant to ask any other questions I may have been ruminating over, worried it would be offensive but there was a curious glint in my far too expressive eyes that the man might catch sight of if he looked long enough and was even remotely observant. "You're more than allowed to tell me to stop asking questions, but then again... from what I gather, vampires have been around long enough to have the answers usually."
