i'll be with you still

you are the angel that I couldn't kill

It took a moment, but when that pretty ballerina's dazzling smile bloomed upon her almost angelic-like features he found it impossible for the upturn of the corners of his own lips that only widened with that follow up quip. He hadn't expected that from her. Her sweet carefree, girlish giggle seemed to linger well after the final note had been offered. A bit too convenient she added. "I suppose your right, obviously it must be too good to be true." He offered almost controversially with a playful shrug as the pair finished their croissants and the mess it left behind on his stealthy black clothing looked almost ridiculous as there was only so much he could wipe away.

It was then that the blonde fae questioned his reply, any time? He wasn't exactly on anyone's speed dial with the exception for the Council and this girl seemed to have a knack for finding herself into precarious situations. He did his job and he did it well. By well, the supernatural target ended up dead and he was still alive. They pointed and he killed. It was a simple concept to him and it ridded another bad creature off the devilish streets. And it paid well. But he was a lone wolf, at least he had grown accustomed to that way of life. That craving for companionship was often a fleeting thing and those relationships he managed to cultivate never worked out. It was just the way it was. How certain he was that he was meant for that solitary existence. Uncomplicated. At least that was how it was up until he turned a dying human who really had no clue what he signed himself up for. And at that very moment he was currently on a date... with a supernatural he had saved. All those self-imposed rules he had set himself up for the hunter seemed far too willing to break. How did he end up here? He never took anyone there. Not even Alistair.

While also... the fae had no clue as to what he truly was. He killed beyond what the council asked of him. He always did. Vampires the main target on the top of his list. He killed sometimes with just as much violence as they did. One could simply not tell by looking at the hunter now. The man who felt like a teenager who didn't know how to talk to a girl. There had to be some glitch in his system... something that was causing him to mess up so thoroughly.. Yet, he could not think of even one.

Yet again, he found it strange that he couldn't quite seem to resist that temptation she caused for him. Did she realize the effect she had on people? Was it a spell she had crafted? He hardly doubted he was the only one. He saw how her adoring crowd watched her as she performed flawlessly across the stage. She was everything he was not. Her brightness seemed to blind him and yet he couldn't quite look away, couldn't quite bring himself to shield his eyes from her. "Ah, yes. That is what I said." He added softly.

How the pair were on the precipice of that flirty banter, he had lost himself to a moment and the moment he'd realized it was there he seemed to destroy it. Was that reluctance within her as she agreed that it was time to leave?

Adrien shifted, using the power his trained body possessed to do so effortlessly to rise to his feet. Once he stood to his full height he looked almost like a menacing sight all but dwarfing over the petite ballerina. She looked so terribly small, dainty and so entirely breakable. Something that hardly seemed to fit in such an unforgiving world that he knew that existed below. His thoughts seemed to prompt his shadows all the same, those curious dark shadows seemed to reach for her once more as though it had a mind of its own. If they seemed to unsettle her, she didn't show it as she took his hand anyways, her tiny hand engulfed within his own. She rose with a grace of her own, the act dancer-like and fitting to her.

However, she seemed to fixate upon his words once more as if she had forgotten the very reason that they were here in the first place. Was it that she actually forgot or did she want to hear it again? Or perhaps it was simply ineffective. Judging by the baffled look upon her features, perhaps it was. Maybe it was only so to his own eyes. That perch up upon the top of that building was one of the places that seemed to ground him. "The reminder that when there is darkness.. and ugliness that there is... " He gestured idly into the twinkling lights, the oblivious bustle below. "... still something that keeps us going.. or grounds us.. Like here...this place is one of mine.." He offered with a shrug as a frown seemed to find his features, his gaze looked out eyeing well... a vague sense of everything and nothing. But his mind wandered somehow again.. glad he wasn't looking at her when the thought of her pressed into his mind.

He then offered her to take her home.. His vehicle was back where he left it, before they walked to dinner... and then back here. He supposed he could take his bike again in spite of the chill. Her acceptance drew his gaze back toward her as he stepped away from the ledge. Perhaps this was the moment where they moved to leave, at least, his feet didn't quite agree with him. Nor did the shadows. A cold breeze whipped through causing his jacket to billow around him softly and her soft blonde locks to scatter. He couldn't help but look at her. Notice her pretty features. Instinctually he rose his hand to brush a wayward strand and tuck it behind her ear, his fingers skimmed across her soft cheek as he did so. The act seemed to surprise him, his caress so gentle as his curious shadows seemed to be with her. He appeared almost dumbstruck at what he'd done without thought, his brows rose and shadowy purple eyes widened as his hand retreated back and yet he was unable to retreat fully. He searched her face as if expecting to see her flinch, to shy away from him.. But for a distracted moment he allowed his gaze to search her face, to linger upon her lips before before returning to her warm brown stare and wonder... what those lips would feel like on his own.

"Audi?" Her name was spoken as if unable to stop himself. He remained entirely close. "Can I.... kiss you?"
