South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.
Home of: The Cavalry

Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

The University of Sacrosanct

He knew it was wrong, but when had he ever done anything right? Stealing Elena from his brother was wrong. Making her think they could ever be a normal couple and have forevers was wrong. And then leaving her without a word was wrong. He knew it, but still, he felt in a way, it was righting a wrong that was already in the making. He had never deserved her. She was pure and good and he was tainted. She deserved a normal life with a human boyfriend. She deserved true happiness, not just some pretend dream of make believe they had come up with to make them feel better. To make them feel like it was meant to be. They were never the definition of meant to be and Damon knew it from the start. He knew they couldn't keep cheating fate. It was bound to catch up with them.

He knew that she would look for them, but she would eventually give up and move on. He learned a long time ago that Elena was strong and she was a survivor. Even when the odds seemed stacked up against her, she always prevailed. And so she would again. He had no doubt that she would find happiness. There was just no way in heaven or hell that it was meant to be with him. He also knew that she would sad and probably even mad. No, she would be pissed at him for not giving her the choice. She was always starting an arguement because she claimed he kept making decisions for her. When it came to her, Damon was blinded to free will. Just like he always felt like he couldn't control himself around her, maybe it made him reach for something he could control just that much more. With her spelled into sleep, he was in control. She couldn't put up a fight and talk him out of it. He wanted her happy and that couldn't happen while he was in the picture.

She must have moved on by now. Why would she keep holding on? He wasn't worth it. He wasn't worth the trouble. A part of him was pained that someone else would be bringing that smile to her lips, that furrow in her brow, that dimple in her cheeks. At the same time, he had that now with Isolt and he didn't regret a single second of it. Isolt was a vampire like him. They could have a life together. They could have forever. He didn't have to worry about things like how he couldn't give her children or grow old with her because neither of them would. Isolt was all the right combinations of danger and seduction and a pure kindness that surpassed even that of most humans. Maybe it was that strong sense of humanity within her that drew him to her in the first place. Maybe it reminded him of Elena. Oh, but they were nothing alike. Maybe their ability to always find the good in everything, in everyone. But wasn't that the only reason they were drawn to him anyway? Searching the broken pieces of his soul for a sliver of good?

Elena was his past. She brought to life so many memories and emotions inside of him but he knew he couldn't act on them, not now. He was a different person than he was four years ago. He was in love with someone else. He had moved on. He knew it would make him feel a little better if Elena had moved on too but he knew that was too selfish to even expect. What if she hadn't? What if she was still holding onto memories of a different era? He couldn't bear the thought of hurting her again. He'd already put the knife in her back and twisted it when he left without a note or anything. Showing her that he was happy without her would be sure to destroy her. Even as his voice rang out over her shoulder, he could see the tiny hairs on the back of her neck rising, see the tiny little goosebumps running along her arm. He had the urge to reach out and caress them if only for the memory of what goosebumps felt like but he held the urge back, his jaw tightening with control. He needed to get ahold of himself.

For a moment, she was holding her breath. He could hear it. Then her head turned and he was lost in those doe brown eyes for a minute. Damn, she was still breathtaking. Maybe he was hoping she'd have less of an effect on him after all this time. But of course, that would be asking too much. Her sudden movement drew his gaze to the sketch and he saw a glimpse of it before it hit the flat surface of the bench. His lips twitched at the ghost of a smirk. She was drawing him. Well, him and her. He recalled that day vividly. The Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. She looked amazing that day and he got to dance with her because his stupid brother was off being a damn ripper. When he glanced back at her, he noticed that her hands were shaking and his brows furrowed, his expression growing softer as he fought the urge to reach for her hands to steady them.

She seemed dumbfounded for a moment, her expression fighting so many emotions that he couldn't keep up with them all. Some he recognized, like anger and hurt and even a little yearning, but others flitted by too fast for recognition. She slowly got to her feet and turned to him and he took a breath even though he didn't need to, waiting for her to lash out, slap him, do something, anything. He knew that he deserved whatever punishment she would dish out. He deserved her anger, her frustration, her pain. He just never deserved her love. His hands found their way into his pockets for lack of anything better to do. He needed a reason not to reach for her, all the old emotions and memories making them almost have a mind of their own. A smile tugged at her lips and he could see right through it. He had learned how to read her like a book over the years and he knew when she was faking it. Her eyes usually gave her away.

He tried not to focus on her expression though. It only made him think of the past. Instead he focused on her words. Her question had him pushing a sigh from his lips as one hand reached out to rake through his hair.

"ON AND OFF, ABOUT 3-4 YEARS, BUT YOU KNOW YOU DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THAT."

His piercing gaze dared to push her like he always did when things got heated between them. She would either try to walk away or pretend it didn't matter and he would keep pushing until she gave in and vented, let it all out. He wanted her to get what she had came here for, whether it be closure, or just to toss him around a little. He knew that it would do no good for them to make small talk and pretend this was just two old friends reuniting over tea. It was just stalling the inevitable.
