South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

Ain't life just awful strange

a new world hangs outside the window
beautiful and strange
it must be I've fallen awake
I must be

It isn't often that Buffy finds herself so far south of the city limits. The suburbs of Sacrosanct were still riddled with supernaturals, but they tended to be, well, more boring than the drudge types that dwelled within the confines of the skyscrapers and warehouses. Dupont Circle was about as suburban as Buffy gets. Which in itself, is a bit comical because for most of her adolescent life, she couldn't wait to get the hell out of that neighborhood. But here she is, a damned adult, and still living at the same address she grew up at. Even if she wasn't technically living in the same home. But nevertheless, she found herself roaming the suburbs tonight.

The dark hunter had heard rumblings recently of some kind of supernatural group forming. A half-assed co-op of vigilantes looking for justice, or something of the sort. The idea was silly but affable, and when one of her shifter sources first told her about it, she snorted and laughed and rolled her eyes, in typical Buffy fashion. But the whispers kept coming. Utlagi or something equally incomprehensible? Either way, enough people seemed to know about in Sacrosanct that Buffy felt compelled to check it out for herself.

Maybe she was getting soft. Or just maybe the crotchety, stressed out and chronically anxious dark hunter was actually changing for the better. It started with Arlo, that relatively harmless and mostly friendly vampire who ate his own kind. And then there was Sebastian, a vampire Buffy found herself thinking about lot these days. Her gut always churned tight when she revisited recent memories of the last run in. But these two figures had helped reshape the way Buffy saw supernaturals, especially vampires. Perhaps they all weren't inherently evil, as her past had led her to believe. Perhaps there was some use in working with the ones that wanted to be helpful instead of destructive. Perhaps this newfound latchkey group could be beneficial to her and her endless quest to end the assholes, too. And if not, Buffy wouldn't mind squashing whatever illegal or potentially violent group before it got off the ground in the city.

She strolled through Hyde Park casually around midnight, the shine from the full moon overhead lighting her way when she veered off the lamp post-lit sidewalks and into the cool and wet grass. She followed the sounds of cracking twigs and the smell of animals until she spotted two large feline-like shapes hovering in the distance. And then one talked. A smirk twitched at the corners of her lips -- it was something that still excited her -- seeing an animal talk, even though she'd dealt with many a shifter by now. Buffy didn't immediately make herself known, but figured they'd sniff her out eventually, and hovered quietly against an aging oak tree.
