South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

I've forgotten how it felt before...

How long did I sit beneath the naked oak tree with my legs pulled to my chest and arms wrapped around my knees? It could have been days, it could have been hours, but somewhere during that lost time I drifted. Did I sleep or did I meditate? I wasn't sure, my mind still groggy, still hazy. My escape from those psychopaths was not quite an escape. Each time I reached to use my earth magic, I was drained. It is why I sat in this park for an indeterminate amount of time, my body trying to regroup while my mind reeled from the shock of losing so much energy. Don't use it and you won't lose it, Sorcha. Carver's sweet poison words run through my mind. The feeling of her red-tipped acrylic nails skimming across my cheek like a mother would sooth her child. Let that part of you go so the other part can rise. Feel it. I know it is there. I see it in your eyes. FEEL IT!

With a gasp I lunge upright, though mostly I fall back down on my hands and knees, heart banging in my chest. I cough, a racking sort of thing that aches from the deep bruise on my breastbone where she had hit me, hard, to try and force the shadows out of me. The stronger I was, the stronger they were, and once I had manifested, I wouldn't want to go back to the way things were. That is what THEY said.

Yet here I was, having escaped just barely, now trying to piece together my incoherent thoughts. I scramble upright, blinking as I realize it is night again. My belly growled low, insistently, but I ignored it as I began to walk haphazardly through the brush. Ever onward towards the city. Once there I could... I don't know. Hide among the magic users? Certainly figure out how to undo this blood magic or curse they had worked on me.

I don't see the leopard until I am almost directly before her, my emerald eyes flaring wide as I come to an abrupt halt. I sway, my lean figure more lanky now from weight lsos and stress, my eyes brighter and sunken in my face as I stare down at her. I am a witch but in this moment, I look like some wildling fey sprite wandering the woodlands in search of a meal to snatch. A flicker of memory - a white leopard. Lounging, chanting, my potions. My heart clangs, pain deep in me.

I moan a bit then sink down to my knees in front of her, feeling the heartache of losing my shop all over again. My cat too. I only hoped he had made a run for it and the ransackers hadn't done anything to him. She could easily flay me. I knew what she was - why else would a damn big cat be roaming around the city. I see the way her body is as shrunken as mine. The scar. "What have we become?" My lyrical voice is harsh, throat a bit cracked as I try to clear it.
