South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

That's Not Enough to Live On

"How did you manage to survive all this time? How old are you anyways?"

It was a fair and innocent question to ask I think. I doubt very seriously that this Fae has lived through life without any threat to his own life. I mean he's a Fae. I really haven't seen much of them. I see Vampires and Weres a whole lot, Dark Hunters too. He's the only Fae I've ever seen before. He knows Alexander so he must have been around for some time, quite a long time actually. There are times when I still can't believe it. Alexander The Great is running a coffee shop, and I'm working in said coffee shop! He can't be the only historical figure walking about. Man, I bet it's been difficult for him at times. Going through the centuries and seeing all the changes. I remember when I first figured him out I asked him why he hadn't taken over all the countries and been a ruler, to fix everything. Because clearly, our society is completely fucked. As he goes on to talk about how his kind cant' heal I find that to be odd. How come everyone else gets to heal quickly and he does not? Seems fair in a way, I mean, it's a limitation for someone capable of living a very long life. Although I think being alive and watching mortal loved one die is far more painful I think. I mean, I can at least speak from experience. I can't help, but gently nudge my nose into his side for a moment.

"I doubt I'll ever be asked to tagalong on some mission, but if I do, I'll try to keep an eye out for you. You know, so you don't get hurt, I can heal and all that."

I've never been shot at. Actually come to think of it, I didn't really have anyone attack me. Well, I mean if you count the rhino that ruined Alexander's café...that was pretty scary. Although I did pretty good! Good enough to be invited by Alexander to join the Unit. Just not good enough for anything else in the Unit except for pulling carts. That woman he brought to the stable a few times, she seemed...interesting. My understanding was that she would be my rider, but she's been gone for so many months. I've seen other horses get to go on missions. Some are gone in days or weeks, but others I've noticed have been gone for many months. I wonder what it's like. Snorting softly, I can't help but chuckle at the thought of horses wearing the skins of predators. A horse wearing the skin of a wolf or a lion that seems a bit archaic in today's standard. I don't see Frost wearing one when he is with Alexander. That horses are seen as valuable is a nice fairy tale to think about. I can remember the last time I felt valued. I'd like to feel that way again. Without hesitation I reply back quite softly.

"I am sure if a horse understood the honor of having a predator's hide on their back, they'd appreciate it. Being called valuable and treated like you are valuable, are two different things. Have you noticed the way the Hunters treat horses or WereHorses? Some treat us like we're nothing, and others give us a minimal amount of acknowledgement. You're the first one I've noticed that treats us well other than Alexander."

I've seen how they treat us. We are nothing more than animals to them, tools to be used for their gain, not necessarily ours. Some of the Hunters treat their mounts like pets, some with love and others with indifference. Staying still I allow the man to continue stroking my hair. I don't mind how he pulls and tugs at my mane. I can't help, but look over at the stallion. I wonder if he is annoyed that I'm getting attention that he might have received tonight. Well, he gets it all the time. He gets to run around and be well taken care of, and do all the trainings and such. He's very lucky. He really should appreciate it. I stay quiet for a little while longer and when he is finished with my mane I gently brush my nose to his side. As he explains that he is not truly a horse whisperer and that it is me doing the talking. I didn't know I had this ability, so being a master for it doesn't make any sense.

"I do not think I'm a master at it. I crave that chance to connect with others. Best way to do that is by communication I suppose."

Raising my head up I lip at his hair again, purposefully messing it up as best as I can. With a gentle whicker I stop and press my nose into his side for a moment. Shaking my head I can feel my mane not moving around as much. It's kinda nice actually. Flicking my tail side to side I move away from him and head over towards the plate with some uneaten sandwiches. Lowering my head I easily snatch up one of them and happily eat it, as I press my voice into his head again.

"My name is Calliel, and you seem to be good at playing with hair. Leading me on that you're a horse whisperer, guess you really are a trickster. So, how come you braided my mane?"
