East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Henry was still in a state of denial over the whole ordeal. He wasn't really sure what to think about much of anything. He still didn't really believe that he had turned into an animal. How could he? He was just a human, always had been. He remembered once having control over the element of light, but not anymore. He's been as normal as streetlamp on the street for as long as he could remember. Suddenly, he gets ill and everyone keeps swearing he turned into some kind of cat. You'd think that if he had turned into a fucking animal, that he'd remember sprouting fur and a tail. But he didn't. So that meant they were talking shit, right? Maybe Sterling was just playing a trick on him...one in very poor taste.

Just as he was trying to get up to leave the little pub, the man next to him seemed to get a little irritated. What the fuck did he do? He was minding his own damn business when this fellow invaded his space. He had every right to up and leave. "My alpha? I have no idea what you're talking about. I think you have the wrong man. I'm just an ordinary human being trying to have a drink by himself." Henry was starting to get rather irritated with this man. He invaded his privacy to try to talk about an alpha, a pack, and some other shit Henry just didn't understand. Perhaps it was just a case of not understanding what he was...mixed in with his desire not to believe what they were saying. It seemed too far-fetched to even be remotely true.

In Henry's mind, the best explanation for all that was happening right now was that Sterling hired someone to check up on him. Why else would this man know more about what was happening to him than even he did? He sounded just like Sterling. But what Sterling was suggesting was impossible, right?

But instead of making things clearer, he kept speaking. Henry had to admit, he was describing what he felt with such accuracy. Henry remembered the way his body ached with fever, the way his body hurt and ached, and then the tremendous amount of pain he felt. He remembered everything leading up to the actual shift and nothing after. All he remembered was being completely helpless and in pain...and then waking up naked on the steps of his apartment building. Talk about confusing.

Henry sighed as he eased back into his barstool, chugging what was left of his drink and ordering another. He needed something stronger to get him through whatever it was that this man swore happened to him. "Sterling said a lot of what you are saying, but it doesn't make any sense to me. I remember being so sick and hurting...then nothing. I woke up in the morning on the steps of my apartment building. I don't remember what happened. My roommate said I turned into a fucking cat. That's impossible, right?" Henry was clearly terrified and overwhelmingly confused. Nothing really made sense and Henry wished it would. This whole amnesia thing was getting old.
