East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was ever so much like baring witness to a chess match, horrifically skewed though it undoubtedly was. William was at a marked disadvantage not only because his counterpart was a stalwart conqueror marching through his third millenia, but more so because the tenebrific darkness of despondency, of surrender was evident in every last harrowing line of his otherwise admittedly handsome face. Anastasia assumed with quite a lot of confidence that the Englishman had forfeited control of his own fate so very many years ago... perhaps for no grander a reason than the instability of his own affinity. It was unfortunate and, she could not and would not deny the notion, a bit embarrassing for one so aged as he. It was a consideration born, undoubtedly, from the very crux of Anastasia's upbringing: she held and conducted herself as she had done in the early years of her life as a member of the Imperial family, willfullness and a markedly stubborn demeanor having only grown during her life with Alexander. Thusly, the ink-like tendrils of pity did not mar her stoic facade, nor did they find footholds upon the (for now) dulled barbs of the words she offers.

"Nichego," Nothing, she mitigates, casting her eyes to the steely figure of her creator. "They approached me in what I can only assume was a recruiting tactic. Bringing William in was their form of a test for me. Duraki." Fools. Alexander should have anticipated such a rebuttal, for not once in the century that they had been together had Anastasia been subservient to any society of Hunters. Certainly this Council was a far lesser concern than others they had ventured across. They had failed, after all, on more than just a single occasion to apprehend this wayward Englishman. Despite this, though, it was in the best interest of the Englishman to cooperate at least long enough to discern what Alexander and his progeny had to offer him.

A best interest that William was seemingly content to pluck and prod at with the sullen curiosity of a petulant child.

With an exasperated sigh upon her pursed lips, the Russian woman turns once more to her companion for the evening, emerald eyes chilled with the precarious waning of her patience. Composure was an undeniable virtue trained into her from the time she was a child; however, William's incessant somberness was beginning to see wrinkles appear about her mouth with the displeasure she gleaned from it. "You are making it ever so easy, William. Did it ever occur to you that this Council might feel they can control you by virtue of your sullenness?" it is a statement delivered tactfully, though the bite of her words is no less prejudicial. "And I do believe we were in agreement that you would stop operating under the assumption that you are going to be arrested. Had that been my intent this evening would have gone very differently for you, rest assured."
