East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Miyako simply blinks at Arlo in surprise at the audacity he has, to lie to her face. She had seen him roll his eyes at her, she knew without a doubt! He was making fun of her. Huffing, she doesn't have a moment to reply before the man is swooping in to help her with unpacking, she doesn't say anything until he reaches down to lift that box with absurd ease. She hardly gets a warning out before he just lifts it as if it weighed no more than the blanket she had draped over her legs. Lips parted in surprise, she snaps her mouth close before direction him to where she wanted it. "Don't worry about unloading them, I need to get another bookshelf before I can start pulling them out. I hope you don't mind a few boxes laying around for a few days," she gives him an apologetic shrug.

As their conversation turns to décor, she hadn't realized she had been holding her breath when Arlo finally relents. Giving him a small smile of gratitude she returns her attention to the box at hand, rummaging towards the bottom until she has it completely empty. Her gaze returns to him when he suggests they go at night and she very nearly responds in a snarky manner. He couldn't possibly stay awake a touch longer to come to a furniture store with her? Huffing, she gives him a shrug, "I'll see if there are any stores that are open late, I don't want to make all the decisions," she grumbles, a touch of annoyance dancing in those lyrics of hers.

And again, the conversation shifts at Arlo barely has a chance to let the word 'pet' roll off his tongue before she's on her feet looking at him incredulously. He was going to get them evicted! She was sure of it! Miyako couldn't very well tell the landlord, he would surely just remove both from the premises. How could she get rid of a pet? Her thoughts are racing through her mind furiously before Arlo assures her he is not joking and he shows her his phone, flipping through the photos of a panda. He had a panda. Staring dumbly at the phone for a long minute, she looks up at Arlo, "You're joking, right? You're just really good at Photoshop or something, right?" She lets out an almost hysterical giggle before stepping away from him.

As she very clearly states that the animal doesn't belong, she's surprised to have Arlo fire back at her defending the animal. Mouth gaping, she stares at him, "It's an exotic animal, Arlo. A wild animal! It could have rabies for all you knew!" she says exasperated, throwing her hands in the air. He had to understand what that would mean for both of them if they were found out, "You do realize we could get arrested for having an exotic animal on the premises, right?" she urges him to see the truth, yet Miyako had the distinct feeling that he didn't particularly care, nor did he think they were going to get caught.

That amusement that so adorns Arlo's features in that moment nearly sends her over the edge. She wanted to flip him off! Mi couldn't even remember the last time she was so... upset. Frowning fiercely at him, she puts her hands on her hips a decidedly sassy way, "Animals are unsanitary," she says wrinkling her nose. "They don't bathe, they don't wash their hands, they carry around diseases, and they shed," she mutters grumpily, yet she knew she had lost this battle. Throwing her hands up in defeat, she turns away to crouch down to another box, ripping it open angrily, "Just, please, keep it off the counters and table... and preferably, away from me," she says to him without turning around. "I'm not stressed," she snaps over her shoulder, "I just take my life very seriously," she says a bit more quietly a bit of pain coating her words as her angry movements become less sharp and a bit more tired.

Standing quickly, she marches towards the kitchen, "I'm going to cook, that's right, I'm going to cook," she announces as she rips open the fridge and begins rummaging through the groceries she had bought earlier. Removing a hunk of meat, she slaps it on the counter, retrieving her fresh vegetables, a knife and a cutting board before she sets away to chopping them up vigorously. "A panda. He has a panda," she mutters quietly to herself, another hysterical laugh emitting from her lips. She had every intention of muttering quietly to herself, yet the girl still had no idea that Arlo was a vampire and he had expert hearing. "I'm going to make a quick stew, you can come help if you want," she calls over her shoulder after she has calmed down enough. Even the tension that lined her shoulders earlier was beginning to melt away in the familiar movements of cooking; it was a pastime she very much enjoyed and it helped eased the stress in her life.
