East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It is dead in here.

No, not in the Red On The Water, inside the viking king's mind.

The voices are nonexistent, in place of them actual thoughts that are his own. That could only mean one thing; he has killed this night.

The spree had been short and brief, a rapist in the making. He had checked the wallet, searched the name in the database and found out that he murdered a nobody. If anything, he did the world a favor with his kill.

You're welcome.

He raises his glass, the apple crisp ale meeting dry tongue and satiating his thirst. It dribbles into his beard, savory morsels to get to later perhaps. Burly hand comes to wipe away the excess liquid before those tattooed forearms rest fully on the bar. His thumb strokes the perspiration on the glass, startling blues fixated on the water droplets that race each other. He has no real purpose today, nothing to do and no one to see. Just a moment of peace after the bloodbath that had just ensued. He was resting, a massive hulk of a man drinking ale at a bar.

Until it is interrupted.

It is a girl, moving through the crowd and meandering her way to him in a fury. When she finally reaches him, she faces him, hand on her hip and the other resting on the counter as she squeezes herself between his barstool and the other empty one. The viking casts his icy gaze towards her casually before moving it back to his partly empty drink. "No call?" she hisses at him from under her breath. The viking says nothing, merely raises his glass to top off what's left of his ale. A satisfied sigh escapes him as he pushes it to the other edge. Eyes meet the eyes of the bartender and he raises it to him with a nod. With her here, he is going to need a refill.

"John," she states, desperate to gain his attention. This is his alias when working with these....women. His brow arches and he leans back in his seat, forearms sliding from the bar top as hands grip the edges. How quickly his peace can become broken. "was I...bad?" he half turns, icy gaze lingering on the confusion and hurt on her fragile human face. He isn't a lover, this is not his job. He does not console and he is nobody's hero. Damsel in distress? He doesn't believe in such a thing. He isn't a womanizer either, he won't lie to her and coo to her and make her heart feel better. He won't attempt to get her again or take pride in the fact that she along with other women desire him. He could care less about her and her wants, they both had needs and he just so happened to satisfy them.

"Veronica--" He starts, "Its Vanessa" she glares, her arms crossing as pain splits across her face. He pauses, a hand running through his hair as he clears his throat and continues, "i don't do..." he uses his hands to motion in between them, eyebrows furrowing, "this." well that was putting it lightly. The bartender slides him his drink, flashing him a knowing and empathetic smile and the viking smirks, turning to grab that drink only to have it slapped out of his hands. He contains a roar that threatens to break free. His body frozen in self control as he glances down to see the ale already seeping into his dark v neck shirt and dark, ragged blue jeans. His arms are outstretched, scarred face having droplets of ale on it. She huffs, a broken vessel not pleased with the damage she attempted to cause him. In a wind of pheromones, the human female stalks away, leaving the viking to deal with his mess.
