East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

The ringing sound of that bell disturbed the age old Dark Hunter's dreams, muted though it was by the layers of insulation between him and it. Even so, that simple sound ruined the peaceful silence of his establishment, those age old senses quite near flaring to life as he was abruptly pulled to wakefulness. A yawn crossed his lips, his eyebrows furrowed as, slowly, his hand shifted towards his head, covering his eyes. The light that filtered in through that large window was far too bright. A small groan left his lips as the Macedonian King rolled over, contemplating returning to bed, even if he knew it was altogether futile. Within no more than two hours, that cafe would be filled to the brim with patrons wanting their morning cup of coffee. It was as if their very lives depended upon it. Those first few hours were often their busiest and, in turn, the time Alexander tended to mind his own cafe if only for his unique ability to keep those patrons from lashing out upon his own staff of women. Some of them, like Calliel, were perfectly capable of handling such guests with a quick tongue and the knowledge that he'd certainly have her back and yet...others were far more delicate and required his presence to shield from that morning fury.

A soft exhale left his lips as he went over that morning schedule within his head, the man remembering with but a moment's consideration exactly whom he had given the first shift to. God, he needed to get more baristas, particularly with the council's increased desire to see the Hunter participate in those activities his species was known for. Not to mention, that was his Godson's return to the normal world at large that had seen him flying across that globe with far more frequency than he had in quite sometime. His disappearance for Dorian's wedding too would certainly put far more stress on his limited team then he would like, particularly if he took Alexis to join him. He was fairly certain he still had that Help Wanted sign somewhere downstairs in the storage room, it was likely not a bad idea to start searching for someone else to add to his staff before it was a necessity. It was, however, just another thing to add to his list for today. It was with a soft grunt that the immortal man pulled himself from the depths of that bed and those warm blankets, almost disgruntled to leave behind that comfort of that bed.

Alexander was well aware of the activity beneath him as his feet padded across that dark wooden floor, entirely willing to shut the world out behind that bathroom door. A flick of his wrist was all that was necessary before that water poured from that facet, the sheer steam of it quickly filling the tiled room. The heat of that water was damn near glorious as it rolled of his skin, bringing some measure of wakefulness to his tired frame. This, he was sure, was a modern convenience he had lived without for far too long. The Dark Hunter was more than content to simply stand beneath that water, letting that soap simply run down the drain. Eventually, he pulled himself from that shower, pulling on a pair of jeans and a dark green colored shirt. He meandered towards his kitchen, aware of the bell in the store beginning to ring, signaling the beginning of that work day. Even so, Alexander was hardly ready to deal with his moody clientele, settling at the bar stool on his counter with a bagel and a rather simple cup of coffee. His fingers flicked over his ipad as he bit into that bagel, the man entirely attentive to the world events that slowly slid across that screen. The Macedonian man was always particularly attentive to any news article of his own home country, followed by those events within the home of his Godson and any subsequent war in those foreign nations. The world was so incredibly dull for the age old conqueror.

It was with a disgruntled huff on his lips that he pressed that off button on his ipad, depositing his dishes in the sink before Alexander finally stepped out of that flat, following those stairs down and into the hustle and bustle of his business. A small nod was given towards his barista as he meandered towards that stockroom, plucking that help wanted sign from the storage only to place it in that front window. He ducked around that bar, stepping in front of the register to help with the mass of individuals that begin to funnel through that door. It wasn't until nearly two hours later that the crowd began to truly slow, enough for him to step away from that register to pull more milk from the back fridge for his barista. He plucked the jugs from that shelf, entirely oblivious of the woman whom had stepped into his store. In fact, Alexander had only just rounded the corner to the front of the store when his barista quite pointedly turned towards him, gesturing for him to join her. A soft sigh left his lips as Alexander placed those cold jugs of milk on the counter behind them, the man easily approached the far younger girl, those blue-eyes scanning her in a wholly judgmental fashion. "Is there something I can help you with?" He inquired with one raised brow. There was no warmth there, really, no eagerness to please. Rather, the Monarch merely exuded a sort of arrogant confidence, weathered and worn though it was.
