East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I've been pretty lonely while Raven hangs out at the local armory. I know it's just down the street but seeing all those weapons in such close quarters frightens me a little bit. I wonder if a lot of hunters go there. The thought makes me shudder. I don't say anything cause I know that Raven likes to work there and she uses the money to pay the bills and such. I've been looking into getting a job myself, even though I don't know how good I'll be at. The more I'm around these little cafes and such though, the more likely it seems that I could work some place like this. I see the servers wandering around the shop in cute little aprons, pouring the customers' tea and coffee and offering them snacks and bagels. It seems pretty simple, doable for me. All I have to do is smile.

Of course, that's not why I asked Raven to meet me here today. I wanted to spend some time with her mostly cause last night she was with Tobias. I don't get to see her as much anymore. I wrote down the address to this place for her so she would be sure to find it and I know she wouldn't stand me up so I wait as patiently as possible. I look again into the window of the cafe behind me. The Inner Sanctum, it's called. I like the name even. It has sanctuary in it, something I needed desperately when I came to Sacrosanct. Raven gave that to me and I still feel like I owe her. I like the shiny antiques that decorate the tables and counters all over the cafe. I like the old black and white pictures that cover the walls. I like the calm atmosphere that soothes my paranoia when I walk through the door.

That's when I see Raven rushing up and I wave and smile. My smile quickly falters when she mentions the hunter though and I instinctively look around as if I'll see him any minute. My brow furrows in concern.

"Are you okay?"

I can't help but ask. At her question though, I try to get my smile back.

"I wanted to show you...well, come inside."

I open the door and coax her into the cafe, wanting her to see everything and feel just as at home as I do. There's not many people here today and that ones that are here sit quietly in corners, sipping their tea or coffee as they look through books or magazines. There's no typing of computer keyboards here. They don't have Wifi service. It's for the book worms of the city, the ones who yearn for a past life. I look around and then look back at Raven with a smile.

"So? What do you think? Possible hang out spot?"
