East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i'm not ashamed of my scars, i'm ashamed of the world for not understanding.

Long ago Raven lost her faith in some sort of All Mighty being in the sky. It was said that God was benevolent and malevolent. That he would reward the downtrodden and condemn the wicked. Left alone within her cage she would read any type of book they gave her. The Bible was a confusing book, but it brought her comfort. The Bible was her ticket into a sanctuary like state, the stores providing her refuge. There were scriptures that praised God and scriptures that warned of his wrath. He seemed terrifying to her. At night she would pray asking the Lord to keep her pack well, and for forgiveness for her sins. Because why else would she be within that cage? Constantly she was told that she was foul, dangerous, and extremely vile person. There was never once a word spoken to her in a loving and tender manner. She didn't hear any sort of praise, or told she was loved. And yet, when she read the Bible she read that there was someone that loved her, and it was Jesus. She took that to comfort sometimes. Believing that it was true, grateful that there was someone out there that loved her for her. However, one day a member of the pack came to get her, saying that they were going to try and see if she could be with them, thinking they could help get rid of her feral side. When she was let out of her cage and shifted, for a moment she was herself. She was sniffing some of her pack mates, moving between a small group of them, wagging her tail feeling comfortable. However, she suddenly lost conscience and everything went black. She didn't remember what occurred, but when she woke up, she found herself locked within her cage again. This time she was naked covered in blood, her blood and by the smell of it, other blood. The Bible she had been reading was thrown at her by one of her pack members, he snarled and informed her she had harmed some of her fellow pack members, and coldly told her that Jesus didn't love her. And just like that self-doubt came in, believing truly that Jesus didn't love her. No longer did the Bible, it's parables, and scriptures lead her into a mental state of refuge.

It would take many years until Raven could find that feeling of solace once more. Her safe-haven became the moment when she was wrapped in her beloved mate's arm, as they were curled together within the hammock they shared, and this was what she craved every day. Those moments provided the woman those feelings she was never given before. She felt loved, cherished, valued. Oh what a wonderful feeling that was. There was no way she would ever feel anything similar to it. However, there was a café shop over on the East Side that brought her a different sort of refuge. The Inner Sanctum was a sort of sanctuary. It was a place where she could shut out the world, be left alone, and read her books in peace. Here within the café there was a particular booth in the dark corner where it was designated as hers. Not officially, but it might as well have been. Many a times she would come first thing in the morning, take that booth and stay there from open to close. Of course she would indulge herself with their various teas and sugary snacks. Always she would leave a generous tip in their jar, an amount quite significantly large. It was her way of silently thanking them for allowing her to stay all day and treating her well. When business was slow she would allow a bit of chit chat with some of the workers, happily discussing the new items they wished to bake, and sharing delicious recipes. However, toady she was not coming to the Inner Sanctum to bury herself in a good book. No, today she was coming, because there was a certain individual that appeared her little book hideaway spot. He would come into the café and sit in his own designated spot. She never spoke to him. Hardly ever looked at him. Her entire attention solely upon her book. There was no need to engage with him, because she had no reason to speak to him. Besides the café rested in a neutral domain, neither pack had a stake in it. Today she would not ignore him, because she had questions that needed to be answered.

One day while Raven was casually speaking to the blonde barista, and her friend Alexis, she learned that Frost had a thing for sugar. Her boys in the pack loved everything she cooked, and she was assured that her baked good would prompt the stubborn horse to be forthcoming. With her plan set in motion she decided to appear in the café around the time he got all settled in. Today was brutally cold day. The skies were an ugly grey and the temperature was cold, but with the wind blistering, it made the cold feel ever worse. Walking into the café she noticed that it barely had any customers, the terrible weather outside probably preventing customers to make the trip to the café. Blue-grey eyes scanned the area and she found her target, with his back turned from her and the front door. Perfect. Heading over to the bar at the other end, she quietly placed her order and gave them a plate of her brownies, gingerbread cookies, and sugary cookies. Grabbing her large cup of tea she headed over towards the Were-Horse, setting another plate of those sugary goods in front of him. Without even asking if she was allowed to join him, she sat down in front of him, opening the container to reveal the food she made. With a soft sigh she spoke quite softly, holding a tentative polite tone.

"Hello Frost, I hear you like sugar...so I brought you these. Don't worry, it's not poisoned, I made the same batch for the staff."

She would raise her hand and gesture over towards the bar, where the staff was grinning and taking the food she baked and began to eat them. To help make him be at ease she grabbed a gingerbread cookie, taking a bite and swallowing it. Blue-grey eyes locked on his one violet eye. Swallowing her bite, she sighed softly, as she spoke allowed, just the purpose of why she was here.

"I am here, because I wanted to talk to you about these medallions. I have a few of them, and I don't understand them or know what is going on. The verbiage is in a language I do not comprehend, but I was told you might possibly know."

Yep. Here she was, asking him for help. The last person on earth she wished to talk to let alone admit she needed his assistance.
