East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

sharp objects make me giddy

I know the other hunter can sense my presence and yet she focuses her attention instead on the dark faerie between us. I admire her stone-like appearance. I don't think I could hold that still for so long. Of course, I've been patient before on hunts. She just makes it look so easy.

Yet when the faerie moves, she moves, her body somehow imitating the faerie in both size and stature to an absolute tea. This must be her power. I'm jealous already. As she faces off with the faerie, he turns to glance at her, noting that he has two threats to take care of. Percieving her as the most immediate, he gives her more of his attention and in that second, I take my opportunity, knowing the other hunter will be ready for anything because it's the way we're trained, the way we're all trained.

I rush the faerie, seeing his moves in the blink of an eye. As he throws up his arm to sling an axe at me, I duck and underhand toss a knife at him. It slices through the side of his thigh and he howls in pain as his posture falters for a second. Roaring in pain and rage, he brings the axe down toward my back but I'm around jumping back into the closest seat, the people who were just recently sitting there gasping and screaming once they see what I'm jumping back from. They're quick to push past me and down the subway car, hurrying as fast as they can. Not wanting the fae's attention to deviate, I throw another knife at his head but he brings up the axe, blocking it before rushing me.

I know I'm the one pinned this time, my head ducking down just in time as his axe crashes through the glass where my head just was. Meanwhile his knee slams into my stomach, doubling me over coughing as I try to figure out how I'm going to get away from the wall he's pinning me to disable him. He brings the aze up again, this time aiming to come down on top of my head. Managing to wriggle some, I lean as far back as I can before thrusting my head forward into his, effectively seeing stars myself but the fae stumbles back a little, his aze swaying uncertainly in the air for a minute which gives me time to bolt.

I slide away from the wall and get back to the openness of the subway car aisle as he shakes his head to clear his vision and throws the axe at Anubis now, apparently deciding to try to get the slip on her while she thinks he's only after me. I go to yell at her to duck but the fae has already charged again, this time bringing a sword that appears out of thin air slicing toward my chest. I lunge back but the edge of the sword catches my shirt, slicing it and catching the edge of my skin. I gasp at the sharp pain, sending another knife flying which this time lodges in his shoulder. His sudden roar only makes me grin, my eyes sparking with newfound strength. This is only getting more interesting.
