East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I never expected an audience but I guess it's only natural that this group gets some attention. Of course the last person I expected to get involved is a human. As the hunter takes the cap off the holy water, I curl a single lip back to threaten him with my canine but it only seems to fuel his fire and as he flicks his wrist, I bring up my arm, ready to deflect the spray. I'd rather burn my arm than my face any day. Of course I expected more pain than the stinging ache that takes over my arm. I slowly bring my arm down only to find out that a human now stands between me and the hunters. My arm fully drops as I raise a brow in curiosity. I can only see her back but from what I can see, she's quite a petite thing, slender and probably pretty agile but she doesn't look like a fighter. She has the whitest hair I've ever seen flowing over her shoulders and down her back. I have to resist the urge to reach out and run my fingers through it. Instead I blink and look at the hunters over her shoulder. She took the brunt of the holy water, but why? I don't even know her.

My lips twitch now in humor as she actually starts to scold the hunters. Now this is amusing. I cross my arms, tilting my head. As she turns to me, I'm suddenly faced with the greenest eyes I've ever seen on a human and at first I think I must be mistaken and she's actually a witch with eyes so green. But no, her scent is strictly human which floors me with her behavior. Who taught her to defend vampires, especially knowing I am one? At her sheepish words, I shrug nonchalantly, offering her a small smirk "None taken." She turns back to the hunters before I can say more and when one of them speaks up to caution her, I glare at him over her shoulder. Dangerous to him, maybe. I certainly won't forget their faces. Let me come across them in a dark alley one night and they'll see just how dangerous I really am. I am over a 1000 years old. Of course I'm dangerous. I didn't survive this long by being meek.

I sense her body tensing though at the words and I can smell the fear and doubt before she pushes past it and tells the man off. I blink. How interesting. My head snaps at the sound of running feet and my lips curl back fully, a snarl echoing from my chest as the man raises his stake. But again a small body thrusts herself in between us and I straighten up as the man barely misses her. My eyes narrow in clear distaste even as she yells at them. I don't understand this human at all. She shoves the hunter back and I eye them warily as they seem to do a double take as if checking out their options. It would be against council policy to hurt a human, even to get to a vampire. Finally the leader looks at me and I flash him another canine, clearly still pissed. My eyes only narrow more at his words of warning. I continue to stare daggers at them as they turn to leave and only when they're barely specks on the horizon do I turn my attention to the human. My lips twitch again as I take in her rumpled wet hair and her stiff figure.

"You're wet." I say matter of factly.
