don't you see the starlight?don't you dream impossible things?

As if by magic (and it was, but Piper certainly didn't know that), the lights in the club seemed less bright, the music less loud, the other people fading out to one singular being - Him. Suddenly, the world, or at least her world, spun around him. Her attention held steadfast to the man who had so easily slid into her world, her mind foggy to anything other than him. The young girl offered her name easily, a bright smile coming to her features as she listened to those English lyrics comment on just how pleased he was to meet her. The thought of his own name was gone as quickly as it came to her, replaced by his own question of what exactly she was doing here. Sluggishly, her own brain tried to come up with an answer. To see him. Wasn't it? No, there had been another reason, though that seemed incredibly far away now. She'd been... with her... what was it? Oh, she'd been with her sisters... they'd invited her over for... Oh! The young blonde quickly explained that it was her birthday - or at least, it would be in a matter of days. Piper was oblivious to that skeptic gaze that fell across his features, the girl merely explaining that the day was upcoming, even if she made no effort to explain why that had landed her in the dance club in the first place. The further continuation of his words made her heart skip a beat, that pet name making her melt. How long had it been since someone had called her 'darling'?

The arrival of the bartenders - why were there so many? - forced a ripple of jealousy to go through the young girl. Didn't they understand that this was her man for the evening? Her order was swift, waving them off with a quick flick of her wrist, the girl's attention entirely captured by the man in front of her. Her hand moved then to be placed flat against his chest, the young girl looking up through her eyelashes as she invited him out to the dance floor. Oh, how the sensation of his body against hers would be divine. She watched that sly smile sneak upon his features, that immediate pleasure bringing a smirk to her own lips. At least until another hand reached out to her date, then another, and another, and another. What the hell? "Hey!" Piper cried as hands grasped onto her own shoulders in an attempt to rip her away from him. A pair of nails scratched down her arm, and the pain that followed was enough to jolt Piper's attention back to reality. What the hell was going on? What were all these people doing?. Instinctively, Piper grasped ahold of the man's arm, using her free hand to attempt to shove the crowd off of the pair of them. After all, she couldn't just leave him to get trampled by the crowd, could she?

The sickening snap caught Piper's attention, her gaze following the sound to one offending wrist, now hanging limply as its owner howled with pain. The other man, the dark brooding one, had reappeared at their side and was shouting that they needed to get out. No duh, captain obvious. But it wasn't as if they could just walk- as suddenly as she had had the thought, the man's hands were upon her and hoisting her up onto the bar top. Following the lead of the brunette girl, Piper scrambled across the counter and to the relative safety of the other side, her hands instinctively reaching out too late to offer assistance to the man formerly known as her date. Even then, the crowd seemed to roar at its separation from the handsome man. Who was this guy? Was he famous? An actor? Piper could swear she'd seen his face before, and yet his name didn't come to her. The crowd must have known it then. Piper's attention continued to be focused on him, a soft gasp coming from her lips as one of the bartenders grabbed ahold and kissed him. But there was hardly enough time to process that before the man was ripped off him and hurled into the opposing wall with a speed that was anything but human.

Anything but human. Piper's gaze focused once more on the two men, aware for the first time that things were certainly not as they seemed. Perhaps she should have screamed - the girl beside her certainly did - and yet an excitement rose up in Piper's chest despite the impending danger. But that moment of clarity and adrenaline was quickly snatched from her, that cloudy haze refocusing her world upon the object of her affection. Piper's hand reached out to reach to him just in time for his companion - was he a sort of... bodyguard or something? - to shove her roughly towards a door and into the storage room. The heavy door was slammed shut with a thud, the bodyguard quick to pull a shelf in front of the door in some effort to protect them. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, Piper heard the man's demand for her to find a way out, and yet it was as if her center of gravity had been refocused on the Englishman, the girl unable to move even if she wanted to. The brunette girl's voice rang out, inquiring if he was okay. For a moment, Piper's eyes narrowed as she looked at the girl. If he was okay was none of her concern.

Piper stepped forward, prepared to comfort the clearly shaken Englishman, but hardly got more than a step forward before his bodyguard was in front of her. 'I told you to find a way out!' the man barked, the dagger in his hand flashing in the light. Piper's gaze went sharply to his face, a frown appearing on her features. "Isn't that your job? You're clearly his bodyguard, so why don't you find a way out of here?" The bodyguard's eyes were sharp on hers as he opened his mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by a pounding on the door so rough that several of the glass bottles on the shelf fell and shattered at their feet. Piper yelped, jumping back to avoid the shards at her feet, her eyes flashing between the three others in the room for some sort of guidance on how they were going to get out of this without being ripped apart.
